My son's family came over to visit. I put together a toddler basketball hoop and GS had a great time with that. Then, of course, he played around the edge of the pond. I guess I need to get a toddler leaf rake, too. The big one is hard for him to manage.

Good Afternoon - I am home, the boys are still at camp so it's a quiet apartment.  Finally left work today calm, cool and collected.  We are on our way to getting our internet working properly.  (and as I type this, the boys are home) and today it was smooth sailing.  There was a Christmas morning "calm" as I wondered in and out of the classrooms making sure everyone could hear, see, etc.  I'll finish some work and then settle in with the TV on and I think I can go through boxes while I watch the election results trickle in. 

Calm is good.  I like reading about your work.

I had trouble winding down last night and falling asleep. Trouble falling asleep isn't news, but not winding down is unusual for me. Active Brain Syndrome, as BK likes to call it. I'll try to take a little nap in a bit. I doubt we'll have much new election news for several hours.

DR Ginny. I'm sorry to hear about Rebecca's husband. It sounds like he's had a lot to deal with for some time. I do think it's great, though, that you've all stayed in touch. It's not easy these days. Vibes for you and Richard, Rebecca and her family.

Well, I'm watching MSNBC and they have a count down on their screen...how soon the first polls will close.  Right now, it's just under 35 minutes!

I was chatting with the gardener this morning. When he asked if I was staying safe I thought he meant from Covid. As we chatted I realized that he meant from any election violence. "Staying safe" now has a second meaning.

It was quite chilly last night. Annabelle's been fighting another URI, and she slept beside me until 4:00 or so, wen she crawled under all the blankets to get warn.  Stella took Thatch's usal place on my bed, and Thatch slept at my feet.  It was a full house.

Tuesday afternoon greetings. 

As if 2020 hadn’t already been bad enough, I learned this morning that my friend Rebecca’s husband died on Friday.  He had broken the same hip twice since August 6 and undergone 2 surgeries while battling Parkinson’s and other health issues.  She wasn’t in any shape to share details on the phone this morning, but I did pick up that they were at a hospital (rather than the rehab where he’d been) and that their minister was with them.  He had just turned 74 on Tuesday.

RIP, James.

Oh, no.  My condolences to you, to Rebecca, and her family and friends.

I took care of a few errands. No signs of any trouble here, nor did I expect any. My 'hood is too boring for anything like that.

That's almost exactly what I have.  It works pretty well.

Got an e-mail from someone I've had no contact with since 2006 when we did the original staged reading of the Brain.  I need a favor, write me back ASAP.  Of course I didn't respond but I copied the message and put it into Google and of course it's a scam.  If you respond, you're asked to buy gift cards for the person.  Of course, the scammer has no way of knowing that I would never get an e-mail like this consisting of one line from someone I haven't heard from in fourteen years.

I got and e-mail almost exactly like that supposedly from a co-worker a couple of years ago.  I mistakenly replied and wrote to call me and sent back my phone number. Fortunately, nothing seemed to happen.  There was no reply back at all.

I succumbed, oh, yes, I succumbed to the perishables.  I got four ten-inch pepperoni pizzas from a place called Regina - very well known and loved pizza place somewhere.  I stuck them in the freezer, which you must do immediately if you're not going to eat them right away, but an hour later I succumbed and took one out, pre-heated the oven to 400 and put it directly on the oven rack as instructed.  It actually heated up in seven minutes, and it was pretty great, I must say - very fresh, great flavor, just the right amount of pepperoni, and my new pizza cutter did a great job.  I'd already looked up the calorie count of a ten-inch pepperoni and it's just under 1000.  I'll see if the ground beef still okay tomorrow - it should be, really.

Topic of the Day:  I've always enjoyed the Peanuts Christmas special, but it's not being shown on broadcast TV this year.

These are the only versions of "classical" musicals that I've seen in their original broadcasts (that I can remember).

And I have enjoyed many (but not all) of the live musicals that have been shown on TV over the last several years.  I know that not every has, thought.

Different locations have different closing times.  Also if you are in line before the closing time I think they have to let you vote.
