Thanks, JRand, for the birthday greetings.
Glad you’re set up for your appointment.
It’s been impossible to get one here in Maryland.
We’re ranked an abysmal #41 out of 50 of states that have administered the vaccine.

:(

Our younger son is a teacher in Maryland.  His school district, one of the hardest his areas in Maryland, is offering vaccinations.  There are a limited number each week and they are only booking one day a week, for a week at a time.

So the town averaged 19 inches and it looked like we have 12-14 on this property.

It's a heavy snow, and it took the plow guy about three times as long as it normally does to move the snow off of this driveway. (Which by the way, I paced out the other day, and the distance from street to house is some 650-700 feet. And we have a large turnaround area at the garage. But I digress!) So even where it was downhill, he had to plow, say, ten feet at a time, push that much off to the side, back up for another start, do another ten feet, etc.

Did a little shoveling, a lot of snowblowing, and I look forward to sitting on my ASS the rest of the day.

I know you were all waiting anxiously to hear all of that, and I am happy to oblige.

I do not miss those days.

Hal Holbrook has died. He was 95.

I saw that. :( He performed his Mark Twain show here in Olympia back in the 1990s.  The house was filled!  He and the show were wonderful!

DR Elmore, I’m living in Maryland to take care of my elderly mom.
I was spending 2 weeks each month in New York at my part time condo on 66th and Broadway, The Phillips Club. They closed down for a long time when the pandemic hit, and I’ve not been able to get back. Hopefully, one day.

Jane, I’m hoping that Maryland will obtain more vaccines now that Biden is in office.
I spend hours online every day trying to get an appointment, but no luck so far.
It’s very frustrating.

I hear ya and I don’t spend hours trying. But I do waste a lot of time at it.

I now how lucky I was to get an appointment.  I feel for people who can't work the online system of getting an appointment.
I don't know that Biden is a miracle worker, at least he is taking action.

When I asked good friends in Kentucky if they had been vaccinated this was part of the response:
"We have both House and Senate GOP here in KY.  They have pillared
our gov. Democrat,  complete with militia-types at the Capital over his virus rules, mask wearing etc.
They even had a hanging on the gov. mansion's house lawn for effect, in May.
BUT when it came to getting the shots....they were first in  line with their families, etc.
even when we have a shortage of vaccines coming in.   I know you are shocked. shocked!!!
My friend who works at the Legislative office in Frankfort says NONE of the workers have
been given the shots even though they must work with politicians who won't wear masks.
OH, And all the judges got them too even though we only have virtual court hearings."

Our friends have not been vaccinated though they are older, and both have medical issues that put them at risk should they get the virus.

Pennsylvania’s Punxsutawney Phil came out of his burrow at Gobbler’s Knob and saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter.

Good Afternoon - I'm just about finished here and will be heading to the Target very soon.  Today was another challenging day.  Best laid plans.... are the plans you shouldn't bother to make, because they just aren't going to go that way.  I did get my name put on a list at Kaiser to be "cold called" if they have any extra COVID vaccines left over at the end of the day, so we'll see what happens with that.

Jane, I live in Baltimore County.
We’ve been told that vaccines are now available at certain Safeway, Giant and RiteAid locations, but when one goes online to book an appointment, the message is always the same: No vaccinations available at this time. I’m on 6 waiting lists. All of my friends in New York have received their first shot.

After reading the post from DR CHAS SMITH I will no longer complain about the 3" of snow I had to remove from my 25' of driveway.

BK, when I was rambling on about Russian operas, I forgot one I think you would really like, since I know you like the Borodin string quartets.  It's his epic opera Prince Igor, the source of the beautiful Polovtsian Dances and bits of the score to Kismet.

I love this recording, which is now out of print, but it should be readily available through various and sundry outlets.

Pennsylvania’s Punxsutawney Phil is stupid.  It really only has a 35-40% accuracy, but if they say there'll be an early spring when it's sunny out (meaning, reverse the "legend"), then it would have a 60-65% accuracy. ::)
