Listening to the opera of The House Without a Christmas Tree - I'd heard a brief sample on YouTube and while I've never liked the songs of its composer, Ricky Ian Gordon, who was, for a short time, the flavor of the month with B'way gals, I chanced it. He clearly loves Mr. Sondheim, but this just kind of meanders along - occasionally you get the beginnings of a tune only for it to disappear in a miasma of musical notes. His orchestrations aren't great (presuming he did them), and kind of ape Michael Starobin. He wrote several operas, including The Grapes of Wrath.

This afternoon I played guitar and sang at a baptism for my co-workers new baby. It was lovely. Then it was the 5:00pm Mass - first weekend with the open church (no more than 100) It was fine. People can follow rules, after all, we've been at this for almost a year. I got a notice that it's possible teachers will be vaccinated soon, so here's hoping! Speaking of which, my COVID test was negative this week. So, we keep doing whatever it is we do!

They let me go early from the theater. The band, which was supposed to play 90 minutes, hadn't even started playing Talking Heads bigger hits by that time, 80 minutes in.

But I'm glad they did. There were at least four big accidents on the way home, all because of slick conditions. It's freezing out there, but the precipitation isn't snow. It's rain, I guess.

I had no idea how old Fred's dad was - 100, to be exact. That's something! I gather the real drama here is what Skip posted on Facebook, that Fred's brother is a real jerk and kept this from Fred until the last minute.

I would rather move even if I don't go far. I mix up a bit of running and dancing with my speed walking/pacing.
