I can't speak for anyone but me, but I will no longer live in fear with this stuff. Again, everyone believes the CDC when it's negative, but when it's positive then we suddenly shouldn't trust them or believe the science. I'm never that close to people who I don't know, so that's no issue for me. I will never wear a mask outside again. Last summer, there was no vaccine, hence the cases going up. Cases have been hugely down for weeks, hospitals are completely empty and no one has had a serious case of Covid since the vaccinations began in earnest. Even the people who got it had no symptoms whatsoever, so who knows if the testing was even correct? Inside, I suppose I'll do it at the mail place, but not at restaurants - once I'm in and seated that's it, but it's been that way for months now anyway. Again, whatever makes people comfortable is okay by me, but I'm pretty much done with it as of the most recent announcement - I'm choosing to believe the CD and trusting the science. Even these threatened variants are a big load of nothing here.

Food is on its way - two breasts, two wings, from the California Chicken Cafe - calorie and Keto all the way and I don't intend to eat anything else other than an Atkins bar and maybe a slice of cheese or two later.

Ushering tonight for the symphony. Short works by Beethoven and Sibelius. Schubert’s Fifth is the big centerpiece. Should be fun.

My doctor wanted a CT scan. My insurance company said no. O joy.

I hope the blood test is good.

And then there was this headline:

So how did she want it to collapse?

Ha!

I, too, will continue to wear a mask, even if not required. I'd like to see us become more like Japan, where if someone has a cold or cough, they wear a mask. If they're not sick but others around them are, they may wear a mask. And so on.

I also like the extra disinfectant measures. And the distancing.

I'm becoming quite anti-social!

I’m with you.

The problem with the CDC has been their inconsistent messaging. They've taken a lot of flack lately for being too conservative, so the new guidelines took many of us by surprise. Personally, I think it's premature. Last summer when things opened up the case counts rose significantly. Yes, many people have been vaccinated, but I feel we should do this slowly. You don't know which people in the room have been vaccinated and which have not. You don't know who is immunocompromised.

I agree.  I wish those that refuse to be vaccinated & wear mask understood the importance for those who are immunocompromised.

There's an epidemiologist at Virginia Tech who came up with a "2 out of 3" rule:

The three factors are outdoors, distanced, and a mask.

If you're outdoors and distanced, you don't need a mask.
If you're outdoors but close up, you need a mask.
If you're indoors, whether distanced or not, you need a mask.

This approach makes a lot of sense to me.

It makes sense to me.

I'd read/heard that because of all the mask wearing, the incidents of colds and flu were way down, too!

Extra precautions are likely to be needed once the masks come off.  There is now a new quad test to determine if you have covid, the flu, a second flu (?) & something else.

Vibes on the blood test.

I wanted an ultrasound for my stomach and couldn't get one.  Good luck.

Today as we were leaving Fred Meyer I suggested we go to The Rock Wood Fired Pizza in the shopping center there.  Keith said lets go to Beaches instead.

I attempted to make reservations at Beaches since they were crowded last week.  None to be had.  We drove over and checked-too crowded.  We don't like waiting in crowds, covid or not.

We then drove over to the  new fusion restaurant we recently ate at.  They were closed due to an employee having covid.

We enjoyed the lack of crowds as well as our dinner.  I had a personal pizza while Keith had an Impossible burger.  He shared some of his onion rings with me.

We began with Rye Manhattans & grilled brussels sprouts which were a bit too spicy for us.

I can't imagine not wearing a mask inside at a mall or whatever. But even though the cases are pretty low here. Nobody here has been double vaccinated yet as our province decided to give everyone 1 dose first. So the no mask thing does not apply to Canada.

But I still don't think that I would be comfortable not wearing one indoors in semi-crowded places. Because I don't know that others have been vaccinated.

Also things are still not completely open yet. Restaurants are still closed. And we still have a 9:30pm curfew. But Quebec is doing better than most other provinces. Ontario is still on stay at home orders.
