When in Cincinnati the timing is rarely right for me to stop and bring home treats from Graeter's, but I happened to mention it to someone last week and I was stunned - stunned, I tell you - to learn that they have discontinued their uniquely wonderful to-die-for Cheese Crowns pastry - not even recently, but a few years back. Sure enough, there was no mention of them on their website, but I also found surprisingly few comments about this development on the web.

This loss is a major historical event, in my book.

Were you aware of this tragedy? Maybe you posted about it at some point and I somehow glossed over it, or I had a lobotomy and forgot. Seriously, how is life in SW Ohio to go on without Graeter's Cheese Crowns?

There is some confusion about this bone scan I need. I checked with the Radiation Dept of Lenox Hill Hospital that I was having the correct scan tomorrow morning, which was for a bone density scan. However, my referral is for a bone full body scan. So . . . I canceled tomorrow's bone density scanm and I am now getting a 4-hour bone body scan on June 4 at 9:00am. I feel as though I have been on the phone for eons over this megillah.

Well yesterday I was getting ready to leave for rehearsal when I got a message on my phone that my sister Molly had been taken to the ER by ambulance.

I messaged the director and said I wouldn't be at rehearsal and my sister Paula picked me up and we drove to the hospital.

At first the doctors thought it was a "cardiac event" but hours later confirmed that it was dehydration and anxiety.  She was released at 9:30 p.m. and is resting today.

But it was scary for a little while.

Oh, very scary indeed.  Thank goodness she is ok, however, I hope she understands what caused the dehydration and won't let that happen again.

I have locked myself out of my car a couple of times over the years.....but I don't think I've ever locked myself out of my house.

I heard however about a blonde lady who telephone the police and asked them to come and help her because her keys were locked in her car.  They said they would.  She called them back and told them to hurry because it looked like rain and the car top was down.

Waiting to order barbecue. There’s something on the menu called Akashi Pot Pie. Sounds most intriguing.

Funny, I thought you meant you were going to a barbecue this evening vs an after biopsy treat.  I hope you were not uncomfortable during the biopsy.

Last night we watched I Remember Mama, which I've never before seen. I remember vaguely a high school production maybe 60 years ago and Peggy Wood's TV series, and I've read both Kathryn Forbes' book Mama's Bank Account and John Van Druten's play, which was published in a Pocket Books edition titled something like "Three Comedies of American Family Life," including Life With Father and You Can't Take It With You. I must have read that book 20-30 times in the 1960s and 70s.

Irene Dunne is so damned wonderful as Mama, but I also loved Oscar Homolka as Uncle Chris and Florence Bates as a successful writer, but the whole cast is amazing. Rudy Vallee and Edgar Bergen in serious roles? Yep, and I would never have guessed who they were. The film is beautifully directed, but I think it needs a good restoration. Criterion, where are yopu?

That's great, but how does it compare to the musical??

I didn't notice anything saying that proof was needed.

Just last month, my mom asked me to make a copy of her house key so that she could hide it in her garage, just in case she locks herself out...again.
