Does anyone produce Can-Can anymore?

Enjoying a REALLY slow and lazy Saturday morning here.

Which is totally fitting, given the weather.

I've got this sitting on the shelf. Never seen it. Perhaps I'll watch it. It's got a starry cast!

I was also looking for "A Quiet Place."   It's not on Netflix and isn't free on Amazon Prime, but it is on FXHD tonight at 9 pm Eastern.

I want to see the original before seeing the sequel.   I'm particularly interested in seeing the sequel since most of it was filmed in the Western New York area, which is where I'm from.

I watched the rest of Doctor X last night, and the verdict is in:  I had indeed never seen it before. It’s a wonderfully weird story, as opposed to the somewhat more “conventional” one of Mystery of the Wax Museum. I look forward to listening to the commentaries.

These restorations are nothing short of miraculous. The two films are unique in so many ways. I’m also appreciating Fay Wray than ever. Lionel Atwill, too, and I really enjoy Glenda Farrell in Wax Museum. A great pair of Warner Archive releases.

Sadly no. There was a bizarre attempt a few years back to rewrite it and include Le Fartiste as part of the story.

I saw a dinner theater production about 40 years ago that used the original script. It was sloppy, but that score is much better than it's given credit for.

Daniel Kaluuya earned his Oscar for Judas and the Black Messiah, Dominique Fishback often matches him, though her part is underwritten.

My one actual experience with a production of Can-Can was playing in a full pit orchestra at a community college in

                                              (wait for it)

                                                                                       1967.

But I seem to have inadvertently kept a nice memento of it — the published vocal score with a Tams-Witmark cover on it. Oops. How did that happen?

Whoa. There’s the rehearsal schedule, written by me on the first page. I must look through it in case there’s more buried treasure.

I still have to purchase it, but I look forward to it immensely.

I saw the unsuccessful and misguided Broadway production around 1983. I think there was a tour in the 1990s with Chita Rivera. I think these days the idiot audiences are more happy with the dreadful Moulin Rouge, which is set in the same time period.

DR TCB, what if the workers show up today and start ripping out the carpet anyway?  Do you have any recourse?

Won't the upstairs neighbor just claim it was "all a misunderstanding" after the fact? (when it's too late)

I like to find cards and other things in scripts as DR CHAS SMITH describes.

And of course finding my JOSEPH rehearsal schedule from 1993 is a great help to me making a rehearsal schedule for 2021.

Of course there is this:
Another Mercury retrograde cycle begins today, this time in curious Gemini, so it’s extremely easy to become distracted. This quick-thinking duo makes it extremely difficult for you to follow through on any one thought for any significant period of time, which leaves you lingering in mental limbo for far too long.

Following through with plans is also almost nonexistent, so you could leave important people in your life hanging. It’s not that you mean to flake, but keeping track of details like when and where you’re going to meet up, talk, etc., is nearly impossible now. Misunderstandings are around every turn, leaving you with the feeling that you’re racking up way more losses than wins.
It ends June 22.

I wrote back, “NO!   I only gave permission for the bathroom.”  She said.  “Well, we gave you a note.”  And I said, “And I gave you a permission letter for the bathroom only!”  She started to write something back, but then thought better of it.  I waited a half hour, and then I called her up.  I told her that they do not have my permission.  And, I said (shame on me) that they already made enough noise, that I would never give them permission to remove the carpet.

Good for you, Tom!

Ditto!

We greatly appreciated that our neighbor above us has carpeting as not to disturb their downstairs neighbors.  I don't think you need permission to put hard wood floors in.  Tom you are lucky that was needed.

I'm hoping this new pastor will suggest security cameras. The last one didn't want any.

You should have them.
