Oh, God, the horror! We just watched the movie of Lucky Stiff. They turned a charming musical comedy into the most confusing and inept POS I've seen in some time.
The HOA rule was included for just this purpose. Too many people bought first floor condos while there was carpeting above them, only to be stuck with a bowling alley above their heads.

My place is three levels up, so there's no one else above me. If I want to put hardwood flooring on every level, I can do that.
