JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE NOTES

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a journey and had a center, and now it is time for you to post until the centered cows come home.

Topic of the Day:

Heaven Can Wait
Journey to the Center of the Earth
The Last of Sheila
A Star Is Born

I think these are all the James Mason movies that I've seen. ::) But I thoroughly enjoyed them all.

I have no plans today until 6:00 pm, when I'll be ushering for an actual play to be performed live on stage!  I have no idea what it's about, but I'll find out soon enough.  Then tomorrow, I have a Zoom union meeting in the early afternoon, and then I'm ushering again at 6:00 pm for another local dance company.  The previous times I ushered for local dance companies, the events were filmed, but I don't know if this was filmed, or if it'll be live.  I'll find that out tomorrow.

I slept very very well last night for the first time in ages, and I believe it's the result of a phone call around 4:30 from my urologist. He called to give me the results of last week's bone scan. The scan showed lots of damage, primarily from degenerative arthritis, but as far as they can tell, there is no sign of cancer, which had me terrified.

I will begin my hormone injections next Thursday.

DR JohnG, thanks for your thoughts about In the Heights. I would like to see it, but I may not until it's on DVD.

T.O.D.

I thought that James Mason was a fine actor, but none of his roles really jump out at me.

I remember him in the Judy Garland version of A STAR IS BORN, and he played "Dr. Watson" in a Sherlock Holmes movie.

I did see him a couple of time in-person.  Once, he was walking down the driveway of the Beverly Hills Hotel, deep in thought.  Another time, he was lunching with somebody in the Polo Lounge.

I’ve liked James Mason in most everything I have seen him in, including:

North by Northwest
Pandora and the Flying Dutchman
The Last of Sheila
Evil Under the Sun
Cross of Iron
Lolita
The Verdict

Huge congratulations on the bone scan results, DR Elmore - in spite of the arthritis - and on being able to start your treatments.

I haven’t seen everything James Mason made, by any means, but I’ve always loved him.

I was surprised recently to realize that I’d never seen Georgy Girl, and I just bought the Indicator Blu-ray release which will get a good watching soon.

And since I neglected to post for yesterday’s TOD...

I finally finished up the Dirty Harry movies. What a trip. I believe I liked Magnum Force the least this time, even less than The Dead Pool which has the silliest plot. In spite of the obvious failings of the latter, I just concentrated on Clint, and he still delivers the character magnificently. The other continuing great things for me are the location shooting in and around San Francisco, and the score by Lalo Schifrin. In fact, these two elements have me wanting to take Bullitt off the shelf again for the first time in several years.

Does anyone here do the daily/weekly meta-data crossword? This week's is related to a musical. I think I figured out the meta part faster than any other puzzle so far.

It seems that we can get HBO Max for free since we’re on Xfinity and are already paying for HBO. If so, we’ll be able to watch In the Heights, and I’d love to be able to capture the stream. It’s probably not possible unless you’re a real hacker, but we’ll see.

I do plan to see it on the big screen at the Bedford Playhouse where I stuck my toes back in the water for Rear Window last month.
