Good Morning.  Home from Orlando.  Glad to be home with my boys- they seemed happy to see me.  Today begins a short 2 week summer class on iMovie at school which will be fun.  Other than that, we'll see how the summer goes.  I have a trip planned in August for Disneyland, but that's about it.  We'll see if we can get some of these self-imposed projects off the ground at home, or maybe just chill for the summer - and hopefully many bike rides, of course.  In the meantime... here we are.

Hope the trip was good.

Yes, and enjoy the rest of your summer.

It’s Amazon Prime Days. Walmart, Kohl’s and everybody else has followed suit. I’m lucky, I guess, because I don’t want what they’re selling.

Aye, there's the rub. ::)

I was clueless about this-lol

Back from picking up packages. Food ordered - another Chinese chicken salad from Stanley's. I think this week will be the last of the Keto, and then it's back to counting calories. The Keto thing is just too slow for me - for others it seems to work much faster.

Did you lose any weight?  Have you checked out the Noom diet?

Noom is basically calorie-counting, with some psychology thrown in.

The pesky fly, which somehow found its way into our apartment a day or so ago, has finally met its end. It was a challenge, as somewhere along the way we lost our fly swatter.

We catch pesky flies and release them outside.

Monday evening greetings!  We are back from a family-filled long weekend in Illinois.  We went last Wednesday to Normal, IL, to visit my niece Laura before she moves to Florida this coming weekend.  The bonus is that her parents were there from Michigan, so I got to see my sister in person for the first time since Thanksgiving 2019.  There were a few tears mixed in with that first hug.

Bittersweet, but now you can visit Florida in the winter.

After spending most of the day Thursday with those folks, we drove to Wheaton, IL, to visit with Charlotte and her parents.  There was a one-year (plus 10 days) birthday celebration for her on Saturday, for which we were joined by her other grandparents and some assorted great-grandparents.  Then yesterday, Mary Linda and Rob hosted a lovely Father’s Day brunch before her relatives left to return to Michigan.

So, last night Charlotte had been in bed a couple of hours and the grown-ups were about to go to sleep when all the cell phones screamed and the city emergency sirens began wailing.  Rob knocked on our door and said, “Tornado warning, basement - NOW!”  We spent about 45 minutes sheltering while a tornado did, indeed, touch down about 15 miles to the south.  Fortunately, everyone (including Charlotte) was able to settle back down and get a good night’s sleep.

Oh my.  I am glad the tornado didn't touch down at their house.

I do not miss tornadoes, or hunkering down in the basement.

Went and cleaned out my desk today. First time at the office in 15 months or so.

There were three people in the guest lobby. And I only saw three other people in the rest of the building that I walked through.

It was eerie that it was so vacant.

I had three meetings on the phone while I was there. Cleaned out the drawers while talking. Threw away a lot of trash, like some nuts that had been opened, but still in the jar. Kept the food that hadn't been opened yet (things like three or four types of salt and some seaweed sheets).

I also pitched quite a few papers into the shredder bin.

I was left with four bags of various sizes, one with books, another with pens and pencils and the like. The other two were just filled with junk.

I wore my mask the whole time. My breathing did get to me after a while, so I definitely don't like something there.
