I would love to see a movie version of Red Gold!

Yesterday was a heavy day of housekeeping with laundry and kitchen cleaning. Because my legs and lower back are not happy when I stand as upright as possible, I have a tough time reaching too high. I hope I can get Micheal's help today on the stratospheric parts of my kitchen area.

I did sleep rather well until Thatch and Stella began pestering me around 4:30.  Annabelle slept very soundly beside me.

Last night I watched Act One of Britten's magical opera, A Midsummer Night's Dream, a 1981 Glyndebourne production staged by Sir Peter Hall, who has directed the play several times and knows it quite well.  The designs are quite beautiful, and the cast is very good, especially the young actor who plays Puck.

DR elmore3003, have any of the renditions of the opera with Christopher Gillett made it to video?

He sings Flute on the only other DVD release, directed by Robert Carsen.

HA!  I was just thinking about RED GOLD, too.  It is probably among my top FIVE favorites of all of MR BK's books.  In fact, I had already planned to mention it prominently in my upcoming (next week) review of SOME DAYS ARE MURDER.

Yes Mr Clint Eastwood would indeed be a good director for a film version...and I would highly endorse such a project and be the first in line to buy a ticket.

I was thinking of Red Gold the other day, too. Blame it on the Neptune retrograde.

Yes, Clint Eastwood would be a good director, if he could keep his ham-fisted politics out of it. It’s why I’ve stopped seeing his movies.

Friday morning greetings!  It's a full day at the ALA virtual conference, starting in an hour with speaker Stanley Tucci.  He's promoting his book Taste: My Life through Food, to be published this fall.
