Amplifying on my previous answer to TOD:

The Carpenters, Starland Vocal Band, The Free Design

(common thread: complex and intriguing vocal arrangements)

I am now up. The allergy pill worked quickly and I was able to breathe enough to get some more sleep.

DR TCB I suggest wearing an N95 or doubling the ones you have, in case there is smoke.

I've listened to Dearest Enemy and The Music Man, and I need to move for a bit.

A friend was supposed to have come over this morning to take on the potted plants that I don't want to die while I'm in Louisville. But I overslept. We will wait until Monday.

Back from a lovely 4-mile walk along the banks of the Mississippi. And a picnic lunch!

There was potato salad. With dill pickle. But I only had a miniscule 1/4 cup.

But by the river, there was a light breeze, so it was comfortable, even on the sunny bits.

On the way home, someone gave me half of a peace sign.   Weird.

That was the other ingredient in my mother's potato salad! Sweet pickle.

I made my potato salad, and for the heck of it, I included pickle juice in the water. It does give it a stronger pickle flavor, according to a first taste. We'll see what it's like after it cools down in a few hours.

I also made a pot of cream of smoked whitefish soup. It's one of the easier recipes in the book and one of the best.

That means only two soup recipes left.

Starting watching One Potato, Two Potato. Barbara Barrie is wonderful. It's the story of a lonely white divorcee (Barrie) who falls in love with a black man (Bernie Hamilton), which, back then means a court fight to determine if she's moral enough to take care of her child. It was Richard Mulligan's first movie. He appeared during the title sequence but hasn't been seen since. I think he's the racist ex-husband, but I could be wrong.

TOD - Karen Carpenter, Carole King, Diana Ross - this was all growing up, having not had a clue about musical theatre.  I think my answer may be longer now.   But that wasn't the question. LOL

Last night, the DBF (yes, it's official) came over and I grilled dinner - which was great.  Then we watched "The Trouble with Angels" which I had never seen - great film.  Fun and I loved the jabs at Catholic schools and Catholics in general.

Speaking of films - I started watching "Georgy Girl" the other night as DR Elmore mentioned it the other day.  I rented it from Amazon prime, but I didn't finish it, so I may need to rent again.  Truth be told, I started watching it later in the evening so I think I may not have been following along well.  I'll give it another go soon.

Saturday afternoon greetings!  We had to go to 2 meat markets to get steaks for tonight’s dinner, because our first stop was closed.  Then we went to a produce stand and got fresh peaches.
