THE FOURTH OF JULY
« on: July 04, 2021, 12:07:10 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the fourth of July, silent fireworks, and independence, and now it is time for you to post until the silent, independent cows come home.

So far, in the past two days, not a sound of a firecracker, and that makes me very happy.

I have a bit more housecleaning today, some work on my book, some CDs to listen to, and no plans beyond that. I hope everyone else has more exciting and fun plans. I think tonight we will watch The Music Man again.

Last night were the beginnings of the pop-pop-pop of neighborhood fireworks, just as I was going to bed. It didn't last too long. Tonight, however, will be madness, I am sure. And the sound bounces off the exterior walls of our building with an annoying echo.   Sigh.

BK, you may already know about this, but it's one of Eileen Farrell's few commercial opera recordings, Donizetti's Maria Stuarda, with Beverly Sills as Mary Stuart and Farrell as Queen Elizabeth I.

Is tomorrow a holiday? If not, hopefully those enthusiastic firecrackers will be in bed by a decent hour for work.

I Googled national holidays, and I see tomorrow is considered a "regional" holiday. I don't know how that differs from a "Federal" holiday!

DR elmore3003: Mon 7/5 is a holiday for state workers in MN.  I don't know about anyone else.

As DR vixmom has already observed, those that wish to blow things up do not seem to be deterred by weather or work nights or much else.

The pandemic has made me more pessimistic about the goodwill of others in general.  Can you tell?    :)

There were SOME fireworks last night, but I don't think it was the BIG fireworks.  I think that happens tonight.

I shall know about 10 p.m.

I am refining my search for an Issachar.....and I have two candidates who are value added - if either one of them accepts, he can also build my chariot.
