Well, you've read the notes, the notes were on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, and now it is time for you to post until the Atlantic City cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  the following are all expected to arrive today:  the Blu-ray to the recent filmed London production of 42nd Street that was shown on PBS a couple of years ago (I recorded it, but it's nice to have an officially released Blu-ray!); the brand new London cast recording to Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical version of Cinderella; and the DVD to A New Leaf with Walter Matthau and Elaine May (this is actually for my sister, so it doesn't really count for the topic of the day, but it is supposed to arrive today). :)

I had a nice night of sleep. My faithful little Thatch stayed with me, and when Stella showed up, she behaved.

After all the flurry of activity yesterday, I'm doing very little. After DR CharlesSmith left, Michael told me he did not want to continue working with me after next week. He sensibly wants to work on his career, and I don't blame him in the least, by getting onto coaching singers and networking. I understand, and I will miss his bi-weekly visits.

I have always wanted to see Atlantic City. When I worked at Drama Book Shop, I worked with the owner amd his wife. She constantly referred to it as a great film. I know John Guare, but I haven't seen him in years. I hope he's well.

BK, do you know Vaughn Williams' operas Sir John in Love or Hugh the Drover? The EMI recordings recorded both over 40 years ago, and I prefer them to the later ones from Hyperion and Chandos. I agree with you on Chandos' sound, but the casts are good.

I have never heard, nor had any urge, to hear his opera Pilgrim's Progress.

And Hugh the Drover, which I believe Vaughn Williams considered an operetta.

Atlantic City is a great film, one I would like to own. Amazon doesn’t have it new. Maybe Criterion will pick it up one of these days.

Kitty cleanup is over, the bed is made, and once I come back from basement and mailboxes, I will tackle another portion of the bathroom cleanup. After, I plan on doing nothing!

Vaughan Williams writes so gracefully for the voice. I've always felt so comfortable singing his music.

We have rain this morning with no thunderstorm or lightning show. I’d almost forgotten that was possible.

The plants in back are happy. They’re going to be miserable when I am gone.

Thatcher will not be held, at least with people there, but he was posing very nicely yesterday.

I think all of those can be clicked on to enlarge them.

I shall now zip up the whole collection from yesterday to send to DR Elmore.

It was a wonderful visit, as I said, but it didn't even feel at all like it had been a year and ten months since I'd been there.

Sorry to hear it's time for Michael to bow out, but he sure has been a help. He's a good guy.

The Atlantic City Blu-ray can be gotten if Deep Discount still has it. It's been a very strange release. I think it was Robert Harris who posted of it on HTF a few months back. If I'm remembering right, if you ordered it (back then) from Amazon, you got a BD-R copy... but if you ordered it from Deep Discount, you got a regular pressed copy. Beyond that, the two were identical. So I ordered from DD and -- long story short -- their service was a nightmare and there was quite the delay before I actually got it. I did, finally, and I will watch it forthwith. And perhaps posthaste, for good measure.

LOVING those photos. Thanks, DR ChasSmith. The kitties are all so beautiful! And the people, too, of course.

And for listening, the CD that I was just telling DR Elmore I didn't have before, but now I do:
