Nice screen shot, BK, except that it looks like she's kissing you!

Topic of the Day:  I haven't watched either of these all the way through, but I'd seen parts of The Apple and Zardoz. ::)

Well, I need to go to sleep so I can be up in time to drive my mom to the SeaTac airport, then go to work.

Have a good day, all!

Another strange night.  I remember no dreams but I remember that the horrible Mrs Moss, unaffectionately known among Barnes & Noble employees as Bat Girlm was in one of them. She was an elderly woman who walked with two crutches who used to come into Barnes & Noble when I worked there and treat the employees horribly with customer service questions that implied "why are you so damned stupid, ugly, short, etc. while I am such a genius, and being overly kind and solicitous to new employees so she could cadge favors like making a phone call on a store line, which was forbidden. She was an absolute horror.

Then I woke up with "I am ashamed that women are so simple" from Kiss Me, Kate running through my head. It still is.

First thing this morning, I'm getting an Amazon Fresh delivery, then Michael arrives for his very last day of work. I will miss him, but frankly, with this damned property tax bill, I can no longer afford to keep him on.

So, while he's here, I have three projects: cat food, moving some scores, and organizing a huge pike of books into categories.

My mother had her follow up appointment with the wrist surgeon yesterday. All seems to be setting nicely, and to her relief the big, bulky cast has been replaced with a removable brace.

I think the most incomprehensible films I've seen are a few Andy Warhol messes, a semi-pornographic incoherent mess of a  film called Thundercrack!, and Pasolini's Teorema.

In Londson today, a memorial to Bob the Street Cat will be unveiled at Islington Green subway station, I wish I could be there for it.

TOD:

Eraserhead comes to mind. So do the films of Chantal Ackerman and Hollis Frampton, two Criterion favorites. There must be more.

I saw the West Coast premiere of Thundercrack! in a midnight showing at LA's "Filmex" in the late seventies.

I do have some Ackerman and Frampton here, and should watch them.

I saw the premiere of Eraserhead in the same venue, the large theater at the Plitt Century City. That one might have been 35mm, but Thundercrack!, of which I believe no more than five prints ever existed, was 16mm, projected onto the screen that comfortably held 70mm epics.

The Amazon Fresh delivery sneaked into the building, left four cartons at my door without ringing my bell. and I only knew it was here because an email from Amazon told me.
