My day started at 4:45 am when I was awakened by a TORNADO WARNING on my phone.

Long story short, we were in the last of a huge tropical (I guess) rainstorm then, but the warning wasn't for us. It was for an area in Westchester County, and I have had that a lot of people lost power in that area.

I am very grateful it was a false alarm, but what a way to start the day.

Yes, some of us wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. I turn my phone off when I go to bed. I don't need amber alerts or wrong numbers.

TOD

Don't get me started. Even if you did get me started, I wouldn't know where to begin in listing things.

I'm three and a half years into using a Mac, and I still get confounded by Apple's way of doing certain things. I have indeed tried using Spotlight a few times, maybe half a dozen times in all, and I think maybe one of those times it actually found what I needed and saved my sorry ASS from engaging in a lengthy manual search.

I had just as many gripes in the Windows world, too. I just haven't used it that much lately. But for my needs, I have to have both now. Neither is the be-all and end-all that its devotees and fanatics would claim.

I don't think that Apple design is as good as it used to be. They always had a very consistent user interface, so the skills you learned in one app could easily transfer to another one. That's less true now. Most users, I think, don't want to have to go through another learning curve. Once they're learned how to do something they don't want it to change! I don't think that today's system designers appreciate that.

Off to rehearsal.
I spoke to the new neighbor lady....in the house behind me.  She was sitting on her front porch smokng.

I asked her if anyone was a day sleeper because I was going to mow the lawn tomorrow.  She said her son Sebastian was....he usually goes to bed about 11 a.m. because he works 3rd shift in Bloomington - the town where MR BK's publisher is located.

I told her I would finish the backyard before then.....her name is Libby.....

That was very considerate of you.

Our cell phones go silent at 9:00pm and turn back on at 8:00am.

Had grilled chicken from the place around the corner. It comes with beef fajitas, a sausage, rice, beans, guacamole and pico de gallo, grilled onion and tortillas. A veritable feast that will last me two more days. I had the rice and made tacos with some chicken and the guac.

Went to Tom's Burgers with Marshall Harvey. Hadn't been in well over two years. Had their great bacon cheeseburger, which is as close as you can get to Astro Burger without going to Astro Burger. I picked up no packages, then came home and finally finished the commentary. We've added a surprise performer for the Tuesday night Group Rep cabaret performance, so that will be fun.

I know we had some rain yesterday, although I haven't checked the rain gauge.

I have two now: one inside and one outside.

Oh. MY goodness

I just got a lovely Facebook message from someone I don't know:
Just wanted to say I love your blog which I just recently discovered. I lost my 2 beloved kits (14 year old brothers) this year and I enjoy reading of your adventures! Thank you and keep blogging.

I looked him up. His beautuful tigers were named Yoshi and Ninja. It certainly piques my curiosity to know more about the people who occasionally read my blog.

Oh that’s so sweet!

We watched another episode of the original Upstairs, Downstairs.  It's definitely at a slower pace that the television programs made today. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.

The most epic  Amazon review EVER!!  For Tuscan milk - thank you "Edgar"!

Once upon a mid-day sunny, while I savored Nuts 'N Honey,
With my Tuscan Whole Milk, 1 gal, 128 fl. oz., I swore
As I went on with my lapping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at the icebox door.
'Bad condensor, that,' I muttered, 'vibrating the icebox door -
Only this, and nothing more.'

Not to sound like a complainer, but, in an inept half-gainer,
I provoked my bowl to tip and spill its contents on the floor.
Stupefied, I came to muddle over that increasing puddle,
Burgeoning deluge of that which I at present do adore -
Snowy Tuscan wholesomeness exclusively produced offshore -
Purg'ed here for evermore.

And the pool so white and silky, filled me with a sense of milky
Ardor of the type fantastic of a loss not known before,
So that now, to still the throbbing of my heart, while gently sobbing,
I retreated, heading straightway for the tempting icebox door -
Heedless of that pitter-patter tapping at the icebox door -
I resolved to have some more.

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
'This,' said I, 'requires an extra dram of milk, my favorite pour.'
To the icebox I aspired, motivated to admire
How its avocado pigment complemented my decor.
Then I grasped its woodgrain handle - here I opened wide the door; -
Darkness there, and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams of Tuscans I had known before
But the light inside was broken, and the darkness gave no token,
And the only words there spoken were my whispered words, 'No more!'
Coke and beer, some ketchup I set eyes on, and an apple core -
Merely this and nothing more.

Back toward the table turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
'Surely,' said I, 'surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore -
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore; -
'Tis the wind and nothing more!'

From the window came a stirring, then, with an incessant purring,
Inside stepped a kitten; mannerlessly did she me ignore.
Not the least obeisance made she; not a minute stopped or stayed she;
But, with mien of lord or lady, withdrew to my dining floor -
Pounced upon the pool of Tuscan spreading o'er my dining floor -
Licked, and lapped, and supped some more.

Then this tiny cat beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grand enthusiasm of the countenance she wore,
Toward the mess she showed no pity, 'til I said, 'Well, hello, kitty!'
Sought she me with pretty eyes that seemed to open some rapport.
So I pleaded, 'Tell me, tell me what it is that you implore!'
Quoth the kitten, 'Get some more.'
