Tonight, in fact, we're reviving an old tradition.

We have a group of friends who live in a nearby rural town, and it's a years-long tradition for them to welcome the Halloween season (because it really is a "season" here) by gathering at a local country graveyard, enjoying a cocktail or whatever their pleasure might be, and taking in the lovely change-of-season surroundings in good company -- said company being us live ones and a number of revolutionary war-era ones.

That becomes kind of a hangout for them through the month of October, but I've generally been too busy to join them much over these past few years. Of course I've got a crazy schedule now with early rehearsals for the show, but the three of us are going up there this evening to relax and take it all in. Looking forward to it.

I like this.  How old are the graves they find?  Have fun.

Also

(and to continue the double-Friday TOD)...

In preparation for the film event on Sunday, I watched the first half of Spartacus yesterday, up through the intermission, and it is surely the most glorious movie of its genre.

It's actually a bit shocking to sift through whatever information may actually be reliable, to learn that there was strife among virtually everyone involved. Even knowing that it had a history of people being replaced and taking forever to complete, etc., it's sobering to be reminded that the ill feelings among most of the creatives didn't just end with Stanley Kubrick more or less disowning it as not part of his oeuvre. They nevertheless created an incredible motion picture that lives through the ages.

I will soon begin watching the second half, followed by all the extra features on the Blu-ray and on the older Criterion DVD. I'll save whatever commentaries there are for tomorrow, then sleep on it all for Sunday.

Were the cast among the people replaced?

Friday morning greetings!  I slept very poorly last night, but I'm showered and dressed and enjoying the first day of this weekend's virtual card making event with my sister (in Michigan) and niece (in Florida).

Some late 1700s in the "old" section, and contemporary ones in the "new". I'll have to take a few pictures, or dig out some older ones from there.

Back from banking - no lines either bank so that all took a total of about ten minutes. Then put gas in the motor car - even at the cheaper place the prices are now 4.49 a gallon. I think I may drop our governor a little missive, just for fun.

The helper's mom's account got hacked and she was worried that because the postage account is tied to my BofA account that they somehow may have gotten in there, too. I checked and everything's fine, but changed the password just in case. I thought about changing the pin number on the debit card but that info would not be held by the postage folks.

Cool!  When my sister, her daughter and I went to London, my sister wanted to go to an old cemetery. We found one close to our hotel and saw gravestones dating back to the 1600s!

I'm sorry, Ginny. On the other hand, your vaccinations made it a fairly mild case. Maybe this will give you good immunity for the future.

There’s very little difference between a mad man and a genius. I said, what kind of a student was he Uncle John – Dr. John Trump? I said -- what kind of a student? And he said, seriously good. He’d go around correcting everybody, but it didn’t go too well for him. It didn't work out too well.”

Sorry though I am sure you expected this.  At least it confirms your symptoms, otherwise I might be a bit concerned about the cause of them.

I hope so.  I know covid + vaccinations = the best protection.  I don't think they know yet what vaccinations + breakthrough covid will =.  I couldn't find any information after Bryan recovered from his breakthrough covid.

How are you both feeling?

Richard is feeling well enough to do laundry and I'm well enough to do my online workshop but neither of us is setting the world on fire.  We both still sound like Darth Vader and we have dry coughs.
