The power flickered off and on twice tonight, and it caused me to lose about two hours worth of work, even though I had been careful about saving things. Ugh.

Listening to some interesting stuff tonight. A new recording of Brahms' Fourth Symphony that sounded like it was recorded from the far end of a tunnel. Folk songs from Benjamin Britten. Now, a song cycle from Flaherty and Ahrens.

I have hauled out the weighted blanket for a first use. It's already 26 out there.

The Shipoopi redo is shameful - like people are soooo concerned that audiences will be triggered by lyrics to a song being sung in River City at the time this show takes place. And the culprits are Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Wonderful news from the Haverty clan - Hartley birthed her boy just a few hours ago - young Maxwell - came out early, could not wait, umbilical cord tied in knots - he's healthy and they all come home tomorrow.

Each person can set the time to display whatever time zone that they're in.  It's somewhere in each person's profile setup.

Everything is iced over here. Some of the trees look the worst for it. I wonder if the olive will survive. The loquat tree looks weighted down, and this year's crop is lost. It's all sad.

You only have one olive?

Yanni lived here in Tacoma for several years.  At the time, he was going with Linda Evans when she still had her home in Lakewood.

I saw the listing photos for Yanni’s shack.  It was quite stunning.

I am having chili tomorrow for dinner.  I would kill to have an onion.  Oh well, I have lots of shredded cheese.

It is 7:28p.m. here in SC.  The time hack on here says it's 5:28.  That's only two hours.  Shouldn't it be three?

Mine says 4:28.

The script was always the problem. The writer could never decide if he wanted to be faithful to the original Louise Fitzhugh novel or not. Since nobody knew really knew the book, Nobody's Family Is Going to Change, the creators should have been bold and veered far from it. Instead, all they did was tame her ending, pleasing nobody.   

In the original story of a Black family, a lawyer father hates that his overweight daughter wants to be a lawyer while his son wants to be a tap dancer. No. He won't have it. He draws a line, and they cross it. The kid becomes a superstar, who becomes bigger every year, while his sister becomes his attorney. They basically ignore their father, because they knew, as they sing in one song, "we were right all along."

I don't know that adult audiences would want to see that. But if that's the case, why not keep working at it and create something really new? 

So, in other words, he gets bigger every year, while she gets smaller every year?
