Hershy Kay: Candide, On the Town, On the 20th Century, 110 in the Shade

I will also bring up what I consider the worst work of my two favorites:
Robert Russell Bennett: Bells Are Ringing; the film orchestrations are so right, Bennett just doesn't get it.

Jonathan Tunick: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum: his work is too tasteful and it misses the bawdy, vulgar, brassy burlesque of the original work.

Agree about Bells Are Ringing stage orchestrations - they're just not good, whereas Previn's are genius.

CBS News did a big segment on the Will Smith slap of Chris Rock, plus the profanity shouts.

Some predict the Academy will punish Smith in some way, but few think it might result in a loss of his Oscar.

From Me:

My guess they won't give him prime seating next time.

From John:

Maybe they'll force him to host next year. I'd say that would be a punishment.

Fact, plain and simple.  "Bells Are Ringing" is one of the most glorious movie soundtracks I have ever heard.  Just brillant.

DR Ron I hope your implant surgery went well.

I was very nervous, and everyone was reassuring and explained everything that would be done.  The sedation was via IV.  The funny thing is, I remember the doctor talking to me, and then the IV was started, and the next thing I knew it was all over.  They wheeled me into a room to allow sedation to wear off and then I was done.   I was totally unaware of them doing a thing, and I have experienced no pain and no swelling.

To put it frankly, I am dazzled by the experience.

As much as I love the OBC of "A Little Night Music", I have to say that the sound recording on the British cast album is far better, with the orchestrations just sounding amazing.  The vocal performances are just okay, but the sound of the orchestra is wonderful.

They prescribed 10 tablets of Tamadol for the pain.  As of yet, I have had none.
