Jane, when I was at the ophthalmologist the other day he recommended plugs for my dry eyes. They insert a tiny plug in the tear duct to slow the drainage of the tears. i had never heard of it before. Have you? I'm a bit reluctant. He also recommended two types of eye drops that I haven't tried. I'll try them first, then decide about the plugs.

I received a call today regarding the reimbursement for the two taxis I needed last month when the scheduled rides failed to materialize -- five times. She explained how their operation works. I think it could be run a lot better, but at least by understanding it I'll be more likely to get my rides. Or maybe just expect less.

I watched ANNIKA last night, Nicola Walker's new detective series. It wasn't bad. I like Nicola Walker, but she still needs a decent script. I've only watched E1, but will watch more. On PBS Passport.

I've ordered things from Amazon that clearly were not in the condition stated. In one case, it was a DVD advertised as new from a third-party merchant. Yes, it was shrink-wrapped, but it wasn't new. New DVDs are difficult to remove from the case. This one wasn't. I suspect it was viewed once, then shrink-wrapped and sold as new. But there was no harm done and it was a good price, so I said nothing. I would have preferred it described as "like new." I still would have bought it and she wouldn't have risked a bad review.

Now I am feeling a bit left out. When I went to the new ophthalmologist in February I thought he might suggest plugs to me, so yes I am very familiar with them, but he only said not to use eye drops with preservatives. Last night at dinner our friend was telling us the new ophthalmologist she went to will be giving her plugs. It turns out her new doctor is the same one I went to, probably recommended by the same neighbor who recommended her new doctor.

This morning I finished reading The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn which was released on 3/29/22. The dedication was to all authors writing a book during covid. Little did the author know that Russia would invade Ukraine, making this book "interesting" as it is about a female sniper from Kiev during WW2. The sniper is very Russian, and very mad the German's have invaded her country.

Often I don't care for books that overly fictionalize stories about real people. This time I did, probably because of the writing and the story, and the fascination of what was then and what is happening today. I had a pretty good idea what was storytelling and truth. The author, at the end of the book, was very helpful explaining the differences or where she didn't really know the truth.
