I don't remember being asked.  I certainly could do it.

I'm on my tablet right now, so searching my e-mails is never successful.  I'll have to check when I get on my desktop computer.

Not a problem.  Tell Sharry that if they need a sound board operator that they can call me...no obligation, of course. ;)

I set the alarm for 5:15. I wanted to have enough time to accomplish my morning chores before Access-a-Ride shows up, I slept very poorly. Every  time I have an early appointment-procedure-travel-whatever, my mind goes into a panic mode and I can barely sleep. Wewll, I'll sleep tonight.

TOD
I don't mind hearing opera in English if the translation's good and the producer keeps the singers' diction as clear as possible, but that isn't always the case. Sir Rudolf Bing, when he became general manager of the Met around 195o, believed that productions of unfamiliar operas - Cosi Fan Tutte, Martha, Arabella, and Boris Godunov  were relatively unfamiliar to New York audiences then - should be performed in English. He also promoted light opera at the Met with successful productions of La Perichole and Die Fledermaus and a flop Gypsy Baron. Columbia Records, which had the Met under contract, recorded the Cosi Fan Tutte, Fledermaus, and Boris Godunov. They had in 1947(?) recorded the Met's English production of Hansel and Gretel.

To Bing's credit, he promoted good translations. I've had the Fledermaus and Cosi Fan Tutterecordings for years, and I like them a lot. RCA recorded on one LP a heavily edited La Perichole with the original 1957 cast, and it makes you wiosh for the entire show.

For those who've read the Kritzer books, if you've ever wanted to see where my what is it, fish grandparents lived and how it was, in fact, literally across the way from the entrance to Pacific Ocean Park, watch the opening minute of this Route 66. As they turn right, you'll see the St. Regis Apartments sign on your right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kw4eRgmDs0Y

In England, Chandos Records has a series "Opera in English"; some recordingas are complete, some only selectiosn, but I like many of them, I listen to their Carmen quite a bit. I started buyting them when I was recording in Dublin since I needed to know more Scottish, Irish, and British singers if we continued to record. My big problem with these recordings is that I am not crazy about the sound. The Chandos label has also picked up earlier recordings, like EMI's early 1970s Abduction from the Seraglio and Handel's Julius Caesar.

EMI records in the 1960s recorded a lot of the Sadler's Wells Opera productions in one-LP selections, including The Bartered Bride, Madame Butterfly, La Traviata, Carmen, Il Trovatore, and excerpts from their operettas Die Fledermaus, The Gipsy Baron, Merry Widow, The Land of Smiles, three siuccessful Offenbach productions and Gilbert & Sullivan's Iolanthe. They also produced complete recordings of Sadler's Wells' Hansel and Gretel, which uses the same arch translation by Constrane Bache as the 1947 Met recording, and The Mikado.

Some of the opera translations are dreadful, but the Fledermaus, Gipsy Baron, Merry EWidow, and Offenbach translations are delightful.

They are running another procedure today on his small intestines to see if they can locate the source of the bloodand repair the damage.
They've now ruled out upper GI, stomach and large intestines.

The new test will involve radioactive material so he's harboring some  hopes of being able to shoot webs or turn invisible or fly when this is all over.

He had his 9th blood transfusion last night, and hasn’t eaten since Thursday except for one cup of jello and a small cup of lemon ice on Monday,  so we've decided he officially qualifies as a vampire at this point.

His color was better yesterday  and he didn't doze off at all during the visit so I consider that a step forward

This was Day 6 fir him  in the ICU...I know all the nurses by name now , and thanking   God for them

I showed him the picture of lead kitty with chickens and he chuckled, the closest thing to a laugh I’ve seen all week, and this is a man who laughs constantly.
