Last night I turned on TCM and half-watched Don’t Make Waves (1967), a Tony Curtis movie I’d never seen. It’s kind of an “adult” version of the Beach Party movies, without the songs and such. I didn’t pay close attention to it but I’ll watch it again sometime. It has a lot of location shooting in the Malibu area, along with some rear projection shots that may contain a location or two of interest. Oddly, though, it’s also credited with having been filmed around Myrtle Beach, SC, for reasons unknown to me when it’s so clearly a California film, so I don’t know what that’s all about. But I’ll figure it out another time, and it was a good movie to get sleepy by.

At some point I need to go out and make two quick stops at Home Depot and a supermarket. Otherwise, I’ll be “enjoying” this hot day staying indoors - until it’s time to grill some hot dogs this evening. Nathan and Kristi are doing the insane thing today, going to the Bronx Zoo for some special thing going on. Whatever it is, it’s not special enough for the likes of moi.

Well......I was walking out to the car this morning and I fell down....tripped over a crack in the sidewalk that has been there for half a centure.....

Of course it was raining....the palms of both hands are bruised and painful.....right elbow cut and bleeding and right forearm scraped....right knee bleeding and bruised....right leg below the knee scraped....

I look like a war casualty.....but I am all right.

Tonight at 11:59 p.m., I am supposed to have a power outage that will last approximately four hours.

Dominion electric is doing things to the power lines in my neighborhood. For the past two weeks, they have been pruning trees around their lines.

It was for just such an event (although not a planned one, per se) that I purchased a HALO power generator a year or two back.

Have never used it, but it's fully charged and ready for tonight. I will plug my CPAP into it and a fan. It should get me through the night.

When that check does arrive, put a chunk into savings and try never to touch it for as long as possible.

I did that when I started drawing Social Security, and I am happy to say it was a blessing I did.

Sadly, we lost the chance to get a good bit of money because of two brothers who foolishly thought they would get more if we waited. However, a sum will be put aside for me, another sum for the cats' care, and then I'll pay off my bills.

Oddly enough, I think your brothers were seduced by the prospect of property prices rising over the years...BUT...unless improvements were being done over those years, the value certainly diminished because new buyers want things done their way. If a house is perceived to need upgrades in kitchens and bathrooms, the offers go down according to how much work they want to have done before moving in.

I think HGTV may be responsible for a bit of that.
