Well, you've read the notes, the notes were sheer Shearing, and now it is time for you to post until the Shearing cows come home.

I realized there must be pages and pages of "But Alive!" references and parody lyric snippets somewhere in the archives of HHW posts.

I have no idea how to access them, but they could have come in handy for yesterday's page totals.

I think "But Alive!" parodies honor Strouse and Adams, rather than make fun of them.

I was surprised that someone on castrecl said that "But Alive!" is - well, I won't repeat what he wrote, but he's not a fan of the song.

For those who don't get castrecl, that person said "But Alive!" was "near-terrible" -and he was surprised that the New York Times noted "But Alive!" as a Charles Strouse song they linked and highlighted.

The link to Alan Cumming's rendition of "But Alive!" bears repeating - to honor Mr. Strouse and prove the song is liftable.

Should his reference to Demi Moore become an official part of the song?
(Maybe not.)

Another sickly afternoon and early evening. I don't know how much was provoked by my morning bout with ammonia and the mess in the bathtub or if it was this malaise I;ve been going through for too long. Either way, it was ugly, unpleasant, and lasted too long.

This will be a long day with the Annabelle & Thatch audiobook. My goal is to get through all of it by tomorrow night.

They play a note, like on the piano, and then I remember it to this day. And then they’d ask you other questions, and then they’d play notes later on, and they’d say, ‘Which is the note we played from one hour ago?’ And I’d, like, get it right, I guess.”
