I forgot he did the But Alive opening - he called me in a panic in NY a few hours before his opening at Rainbow and Stars and said he was having trouble with the song and it wasn't landing. I came right over and in fifteen minutes we came up with an absolutely hilarious opening. The minute he told me he was petrified of the song, I said that's the way into it. Be NERVOUS. Start it with voice shaking, cough, take a drink of water and have it spill on your shirt, then call for "line." It was simple, you just had to find the way in. And no one builds on stuff like Jason. I did that on a couple of other opening numbers of his - always fun.
