My friend is in LA visiting her aunt and the aunt wanted to go to Costco for hot dogs. The surprise was, unlike our Portland Costco, everything is automated and self- serve. Does anyone else have an automated and self-serve food court?

Seeing Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle again was much fun yesterday.I'd forgotten way more of it than I remembered. The theater's programmer introduced it as a largely unknown (these days) and very underrated film. More than half of this audience raised their hands to say they knew it or knew of it, and all enjoyed it. I had also completely forgotten Matthew Broderick's and Campbell Scott's roles. Both were excellent, and the Campbell Scott discussion afterward had to be done on Zoom because he was stuck at home alone (out in eastern Connecticut) with a sick kid or someone else sick in the house. So they put the zoom session up on the big screen, and he was an absolute pleasure. Looks great, remembered all kinds of detail about the film (he watched it at home while we were watching it, to review it), and he's the kind of actor you can enjoy listening to and learning from. Now I want to see more of Alan Rudolph's films, and for that matter, more Scott, who - call me ignorant - I just learned last night is George C. Scott's son.
