They play a note, like on the piano, and then I remember it to this day. And then they’d ask you other questions, and then they’d play notes later on, and they’d say, ‘Which is the note we played from one hour ago?’ And I’d, like, get it right, I guess.”

Good afternoon. I've done a lot of nothing today.

“He ended up getting a divorce, found a new wife. Could you say a trophy wife? I guess we can say a trophy wife. It didn’t work out too well, but that doesn’t work out too well, I must tell you. A lot of trophy wives, it doesn’t work out. But it made him happy for a little while at least. But he found a new wife.”

I like the A & T publisher very much, but we had a telephonic discussion yesterday morning that led to a day of angst and anguish. I had been keeping notes on discrepancies between text and audio, which was fine. In some cases, he changed a word and I liked his choice better. In other cases, I had found spots where the narrator had begun a phrase, stopped and then began again, and these need fixing. Anyway, it turns out that the publisher would like a marked up printout of the text wutg everything noted. I wish I'd been told this a week ago, because I am now back to square one. That's neither here nor there; I just needed to print out a copy of the book.

Too bad they couldn't have provided you with a printout or a Kinko's card so that you wouldn't have to print it out yourself.

So, I began the printing, and around page 80, due to my carelessness about finishing the printing and getting the cats and myself dinner, I ended up with a paper jam. The printer stopped and the next three hours of hell began.

NNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! :o

INTERLUDE
While I was looking through my address book for possible computer / printer-savvy friends, I ran across the name of our DR vixmom! I had meant toearlier to check on her, so I did. She says she's been knocked flat by the pneumonia but she will return.

INTERLUDE OVER!

Thanks for the Vixmom update, Larry!

While checking out at Fred Meyer today the guy behind us had a great cake he purchased for his son's 11th birthday.  It kind of looked like this.

I went tro Amazon and looked at HP toner cartridges: $61.00. I ordered one, hoping I was buying the correct one. I pulled the dying toner cartridge, shook it, beat it againt the table, and got enough toner to finish my printing. And that was my shitty day.

Whew!  At least you got it all printed!

In non-Chayefsky work:

When the movie first came out in 2011, were film-savvy people here generally aware that the 2011 movie called "Just Go With It," starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, was a remake of "Cactus Flower," which starred Walter Matthau and Ingrid Bergman, and Goldie Hawn in her Oscar-winning supporting role.

I guess "Just Go With It" was a real hit, even though not well-respected:  It grossed over $200-million, with an $80-million budget, according to wikipedia.

When I watched it on TV, I thought, boy, this premise sounds familiar - and then saw it was an actual remake of "Cactus Flower."

Do not recall hearing that ever. A stealth remake.

That could be a genre:  stealth remakes.

Why can't those in the business remake bad movies and make them better?  Why are good movies remade that turn out to be crap?? :P

We thought so.  Next time we go to Fred Meyer I need to walk past the bakery and look at their cakes.

Things have been very, very busy at this end, but not the good busy. Hopefully, things will slow down a bit sometime.

Yesterday I had lunch with my friend Jan. Her birthday is tomorrow and we often celebrate our birthdays together. Her husband has an inoperable tumor and has chosen a Death with Dignity approach. When he decides it’s time a social worker will arrive and provide a powder that can be made into a drink. He will then go to sleep permanently. I’m glad he has such a humane option, but it still isn’t easy. Jan understands and respects his decision. Definitely puts a damper on a birthday lunch, but I’m glad she could take a much- needed break.
