Well, you've read the notes, the notes were proper notes, and now it is time for you to post until the proper cows come home.

And speaking of The Pee-Wee Herman Show on Broadway, the Blu-ray is no longer available on Amazon, so I looked on eBay.  The DVD copies that I found all cost at least $50!  And I didn't see any Blu-rays for less than $100! :o

George, thanks for posting that link to the new, spiffy version of the Legally Blonde video!

George, I really liked the Legally Blonde musical a great deal, too.  We've talked about movies we've seen over and over.  Legally Blonde was one of those feel-good musicals that I would go back and see whenever I'd get a reasonable excuse, like when old law school friends were in from out of town and such. The musical felt much closer to my own law school experience (admittedly in the early 1980s) than the movie.

Once I was used to a few downright silly patches in the show, it became more fun to watch it afterwards, knowing what was coming after this brief silly section.

Of course, reasonably priced tickets were much more available when Legally Blonde was on Broadway. Premium and what they call "dynamic pricing" hadn't taken such a grasp on the ticket buying system yet.

Last night, around 7:30 I got an email from a friend who's doing the 1925 Rodgers & Hart show DEAREST ENEMY in Akron, Ohio, where the show gave its first performances. When I restored the show in 2001 for the Richard Rodgers Centennial, it was performed in spring 2002 by the Village Light Opera Group. Mary Rodgers wanted the show recorded, ut it never happened. When we finally recorded the show in Dublin in August 2012, I spent some time going through the materials and revising some things. To my surprise, after the recording was released, the REodgers & Hammerstein Organization never asked for the recording materials nor made any effort to put the show into their theatre library. When I closed up the office in 2015, I boxed up the cleaned up scores and parts and sent them to the Miami University Library, which holds much of my work.

Then out of the blue several years later, I got a request for the materials from someone at the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization demanding the materials ("We own them"), and I had to ask the Miami Library to return them to Rodgers & Hammerstein. Last year, I learned the materials are now available for performance through Concord Theatricals, only I learned last night that the materials are a screwed up mess of both 2002 and 2012 orchestra parts and scores. So, hopefully today Concord and I will straighten out the mess.

Thunderstorms woke me at 4:45 when the power flashed off and on. The sleep machine stopped. A rather rude awakening.

And then they’d ask you other questions, and then they’d play notes later on, and they’d say, ‘Which is the note we played from one hour ago?’ And I’d, like, get it right, I guess.”
