Well, you've read the notes, the notes died hard, and now it is time for you to post until the die hard cows come home - they're currently in London with a girl.

It was a ghastly, terrible, god-awful. horrible night. I probably need a really good massage, which I cannot afford, because that pinched nerve affecting my left hand and arm is getting worse. As a consequence, I spent too much time turning and shifting in efforts to find a position where the pinching would cease and the pains in my arm and hand would withdraw It was made worse because Annabelle and Thatch had taken half the bed. I am not happy at the moment.

TOD:

One time when it was really terrible, in 1994 or so after a meal in the East Village, it was before the internet was really part of day-to-day life, so it wasn't easy to look up symptoms and such.   But it was so terrible, the [to use a polite term] upchucking so violent, that I even recall what we were doing that day.

I sent the uncorrected recording parts and full scores for Dearest Enemy to Concord Theatricals. I don't know if the corrected materials I prepared in 2014 are with the Miami University Library or somewhere in the ruins of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, but these days, with my health and mobility, I cannot worry about the mess.

So, I'm going through my recording scores and creating an errata list. As soon as I've finished it - maybe tomorrow? - I can watch Drat! The Cat!

I needed more sleep this morning, but we have an Xfinity guy or gal coming out this morning (because I had to phone in an outage two days in a row and the system generated the service call to check things out), and of course I had to get up to feed the tiger anyway.

Once that person has been in and out of here, I can watch DRAT! THE CAT! -- then I go down to Walgreen's for my second shingles shot. If there isn't sufficient time between the two, I'll watch as soon as I get back from being jabbed.

Last night's Waitress was absolutely wonderful. I saw the Broadway (not live -- via the Fathom event at my local AMC), and I've seen a couple of bootlegs, but as fine as Sara Bareilles and the others have been, I ended up liking this production better. They dispensed with the band moving in and out on a platform thing, which always seemed a bit gratuitous to me. The set design here and the cast themselves were absolutely tops. Great theeder, too -- about 190 seats, modern, comfortable -- and in true Broadway tradition, restrooms that could reasonably handle an audience of about ten, not 190. Mindboggling.

TOD: Fred, is there still a sushi place on the west side of 9th Ave between 43/44th? Where Circus Bar once was? They poisoned me once and I walked by the next day and there was a sign saying it had been closed by the health dept. But people were still sitting inside eating!! It was the craziest thing.

I loved Drat! The Cat!

Perfectly cast.  I really loved the two leads and their acting and singing together and apart.

The Keystone Cops were funny.....the older couple were great!

I think my favorite scenes were the party, when Purefoy got arrested & tried, and the lovely ballad by the leading lady.  But it was all great.

Spillover alert:

I had to go back and watch a couple scenes. I was taken aback when Matilda was called an “old bag” in the courtroom, for my first viewing I thought she’d sort of reformed and was going to be a more attentive and firm parent.

On second viewing, she was still mostly concerned with the family’s image and was happy to see Bob take the fall.  So the harsh rebuke makes more sense. I am at peace.
