Thankfully, I did six pages before I left, including futzing and finessing.

Guess I'll try to do two more now, then two after the notes.

I condensed three photos and the site won’t let me post any.

I can't post any, either.

Weird!  I was able to post a picture. ???
I was getting the same message as Singdaw's.

Has anyone watched the Mapp and Lucia series? If so, any good? I found a book by the author today. Sounds like a knockoff Wodehouse. And what's wrong with that?

Tonight we went to Esa-Pekka Salonen's final concert as music directory of the San Francisco Symphony - a fabulous performance of Mahler 2 with Sasha Cook and Heidi Stober as soloists.

The first time I heard the San Francisco Symphony perform this with MTT, Lorraine Hunt Lieberson was the soloist. So I've been to mezzo heaven twice now with the piece.

The SFS cellos are so much better now than they were then - the principal is in his 2nd year and the assistant principal in her 1st year, and both are great improvements over who they replaced (especially the principal). Which matters a lot in this symphony.

Great fun to hear the differences between EPS's and MTT's interpretations. EPS is more direct, MTT looser, and both ways work great.

EPS took the first movement a bit faster, but MTT didn't have cellos who could play it as well at that tempo.

Afterwards was the longest ovation I've ever heard at SFS. It wouldn't stop until Salonen spoke a few words to the audience.

Headed to a No Kings rally later.

Hope it went well!

It was a great big joyous party with people from all ages An LGBTQIA+ group seemed to have sponsored, so there was a fairly large rainbow turnout. Someone was handing out both American and pride flags. So I have those as souvenirs.

That's very cool, John!

Father Goose is dated. The kids are irritating. But Cary Grant is good.
