TOD: I saw the original Planet of the Apes in the theater when I was a kid. I don't remember the audience, I just remember being shocked at the ending. I've had no desire to see any of the sequels.

BK, if you're taking Flonase, I'd recommend taking regular Claritin, not Claritin-D. Otherwise you're getting a double dose of different decongestants, which may sound like a good thing, but isn't. I'm no doctor of course, but I've been dealing with allergies since the original Planet of the Apes was in theaters.

I have this memory that he had dinner with Cole Porter and other folk (Merman, maybe?) at Porter's home during the creation of GYPSY.

Page 212 in the first volume of Sondheim's collected lyrics is his long assessment of Cole Porter as a lyricist.

In his lyric books, Sondheim had high praise for Porter for always landing the right syllable on the right beat, something he hated about Hart’s and Ira’s lyrics.
