Excellent movie viewing last night. Marnie was so intense, I really liked it. Now I need to see the operatic version. The Trouble With Harry provided some lightness after Marnie's darkness.

Tonight's film class is the French New Wave with Truffaut's The Soft Skin.

Yesterday, I got my first job since the work on Gypsy ended last November. It doesn't pay well, but it's a prpoject I like, and it will keep three cats in luxury for the next month.

Congrats, Larry!

That's a hell of a double feature, DR MichaelG. Glad you enjoyed Marnie. Like DR John G. says, the opera is based on the original novel, but the film gives you plenty to go on and I believe you'll enjoy the opera just fine. I was one who always liked the film, and I've developed even greater respect for it over the years.

The Trouble With Harry was a tougher nut to crack when I first saw it as a kid. Going in cold, I was wrongly expecting it to be something with more suspense or perhaps even a little bit scary. I think about ten years passed before I was seeing it at Hitchcock festivals in L.A., and of course I "got it" and liked it just fine then.

And here it is, a Thursday once again.

Tonight we start our last weekend, three more shows, closing Saturday night. No Sunday performance, as they're already in tech for the next show.

Tonight is show #5 of The Cemetery Club.

So much laughter and heavy mitts - about six minutes was added to the show last night.

Congrats, Jrand!

I'm up, I'm up - about six hours of sleep - could not fall asleep for an hour. But no Ny-Quil and I feel pretty good this morning.

I don’t seek out true crime. But my mother loved Dateline, so I have seen quite a few episodes.

I loved the book Helter Skelter; the Manson fami;ly really spooked me. I never saw the TV movie.

Shaved and showered and following an online auction - nothing for me, really, but several are things I have so I'd like to see what they go for.

Voice is a bit better today. The real problems are, for whatever reasons, at night, especially later. Don't understand it really. But in addition to the Claritin I took a Mucinex - I read up on it and there's no problem taking both at the same time, and I think the Mucinex really helps overnight.

I admit I didn’t like Marnie when I first saw it. But when I watched all of Hitchcock’s movies a few years ago, it became one of my favorites. As for the opera, the countertenor is an interesting writing/casting choice.

Sure is. And it's a character who isn't in the movie, right? Wow, I'm forgetting now. I read the novel many years ago. Maybe I should pick it up again, especially since we have the opera now.

I just read this news.  For some reason I did not see your post.  I think there was a delay in the photo showing up.

Boring auction - to me, it seems mostly dealers trying to get bargains but not letting anyone else get them and dropping out as soon as the price precludes the kind of profit these vultures like to make when they jack up the price. When they get to the mysteries I know exactly who'll be doing just that.

Hot outside, but cooler in the house and I hope it stays that way for rehearsal because I'm not turning on the air.

I walked over to the church to visit with the ladies' sewing group. They are making a quilt out of the squares that the kids made at Bible School.
