Well, you've read the notes, the notes guessed the mystery guest, and now it is time for you to post until the mystery cows come home.

What’s My Line? is the best of the best. Watch it when you want to see how far our basic discourse has fallen. But also to be entertained by great wit and drollery. The panel is, aside from everything else, good at the game. And John Charles Daly, with his on-the-fly adjudications. Masterful.

In my lifetime…
Pyramid. Dick Clark was at his most likeable and “real” as host of that show. And the game was exciting.

Match Game. Less urbane, but still witty, and like being allowed to hang out at a weird little grownup party.

And nothing’s funnier than Bill Daily’s reaction on this clip.

I slept well. Because the night before wasn't so good, I spent most of yesterday feeling very tired. I did finish the last cue, but I'm not very happy with it. I'll look it over today and see if I want to redo any of it.

I'm hoping for a quiet day. I need to clean out my email, which has got way out of control. I also haven't heard from Ann and Jen, so I don't know what's going on with them. I thought they were back from vacation last week, but there's been no word.

TOD
The first game shows I remember are What's My Line? and Password. There must have been others before it that my mother watched, but my memories of TV in my childhood, when we got home from school, were Art Linkletter and Kate Smith.

Since we didn’t have a TV until I was 7, I wasn’t exposed to game shows too early. Once I discovered them, I became an addict. Concentration might have been the first, but Jeopardy was in the early mix. Password, What’s My Line, To Tell the Truth were up there. Then came $10,000 Pyramid, High Rollers, Match Game, Price Is Right, you name it. I didn’t warm to Wheel of Fortune for a long time.

Tuesday will likely be 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday could be a repeat. Thursday will be only a half day.
