I must finish my report for a meeting of the bored at 2 p.m.

The president has not sent the agenda yet....so I don't know if there are any surprises  in store for us today.

Happy Sunday and Happy August!  On this week's Broadway Radio Show, I'm chating with Kate Chisholm about the legacy of composer & lyricist Peter Foley and the release of the album "Out Of Myself: Songs of Peter Foley," a live concert recording featuring a fantastic array of talent from the worlds of theatre and opera performing Peter's beautiful compositions.

https://www.haineshisway.com/the-broadway-radio-show-2/

Peter Foley was a gem, and remains a gem in memories and now on this CD collection.

Peter was a great composer, and also a great pianist and music director and friend; he was music director when I was a student in Stephen Schwartz and Michael Kerker's workshop, the evening when I presented my show to Stephen Sondheim and Stephen Schwartz. Since Peter was a good friend of Sondheim's, Peter knew hours before I did that Sondheim was going to be on my teaching panel and was able to call me in advance to alert me and said "Do you want to know who will be on your panel tonight?"

On the plus side, a lovely new HHW posting Millstone approaches for you.

Driving the DH to the airport this morning. He is off to another music conference, this time in Durham, NC.

When he’s returning he gets to sing this.

Could have really had a cool story if the FBI agent turned out to actually be a gangster impersonating an FBI agent. Missed opportunities there.

HHW factoid: the FBI agent was played by the guy who was the dean of Eastland School on season one of The Facts of Life. I had just been watching a Partridge Family where BK has a single scene. In that episode, a school psychologist is played by Eastland School matriarch and later Edna’s Edibles shopkeeper Charlotte Rae, who by the way, I saw in the Encores! cast of… 70 Girls 70.

And now you know… the rest of the story.

There's been the GOLDEN GIRLS Live parody show.

Why not an ALICE Live parody show, where you extend the threads of a typical ALICE episode - starting with BK's episode.

Charlotte Rae also starred in the "70, Girls, 70" that I saw at the El Portal in L.A. in 2002.

I would have tried to visit with BK back then, but I didn't know him yet. :)

I believe BK first met Skip at TIME AND AGAIN at the Old Globe in San Diego in 1996.

A whole thing where you show episodes and then remake them by adding a little better plotting.

BK already did the show "WHAT IF?"

Maybe he could do "WHY NOT?"

Both concerts this weekend were great. I think my favorites so far may be the two Corigliano pieces.

One was a suite from The Ghost of Versailles and the other a suite from Altered States.

I've been running myself ragged this morning. I took the garbage to the basement, had to geal with getting a heavy Chewy.com carton upstairs. The nice young lady in 1F found me struggling with it and carried it up the elevatpor to my door. Then I sent an e-card announcing the book - the hardcover and possibly audio book should go up tomorrow on Amazon - to my mailing list.

After that, I made the bed, vacuumed, mopped up cat vomit, opened the Chewy carton and unpacked three cartons - 24 cans in each - of Fancy Feast. I put the cartons away, and here I am. I need to make another trek to the basement with all that garbage.

Tomorrow I'm seeing a new doctor, a nephrologist, to check me out as a potential kidney disease bearer. Oh, joy!

From DR Rodzinsi:

Quote
We took a ferry into Victoria to see our old neighbor who had a stroke. He could only say “yes” and give thumbs up, but he seemed to recognize us.

It doesn't sound like he will be improving.  I hope I am wrong, but glad he seemed to recognize you.

During the day, my partner Sheila got very sick, but she continued to dance for a while with her balance being way off. She finally called it quits and eventually her husband came to take her home.

I'm sorry.  I hope she is feeling better and that you don't come down with whatever she has.
