I was very pleased to see Freyja wearing a traditional watch.  It is designed to help a child learn to read a watch and she has it figured out already.

I have no idea what the most expensive meal I've eaten, or what I ordered.

DR Elmore, and others:

I had printed out the JPG that DR Elmore provided of the missing title page illustration, but it came out softer in resolution than the rest of the ones in my Kindle. A few days later I had a brainstorm (which could have been something else, of course, but I believe 'storm' is the right word here), and found a way to get it totally sharp and clear.

If this attachment doesn't work here, I'll have to make it smaller, so let's see...

Okay, good. Click on that to make it larger and you'll see how sharp and clear it is.

What I did was display that page on my Kindle and then take a screenshot, which goes into the Photos app. Then on the Mac, I opened that up and selected "edit in Preview", and saved it as both a JPG and a PDF to see if either looked better. They both looked great, and this is just a reduction of the JPG.

I'm read for my student today. We're working on a big band arrangement of Kurt Weill's "Speak Low."

Tonight's the last night of our French cinema class. We see Catherine Corisini's Summertime from 2015.

After which we vote on our favorite film of the class. First it gets narrowed down to three films, then the top two, and then the winner.

That doesn't sound like decent customer service.

In good news, BK, you're getting quite closer to a record-setting new Millstone!

I am in the Seattle area, and it seems pleasant. I’m not in Seattle proper, but Bellevue. In a high-rise air bnb. About which I can tell you the water has been shut off today for some reason.
