Back from a really productive rehearsal, even though Kevin was marking vocally, as he woke up feeling a little wonky. I came up with two new lines today, both of them pretty funny. I love when that happens.

JMK: A million apologies - I was packing that stuff so fast, but trying to remember to include the sparkling something-or-other (I had to reopen about five packages where I'd forgotten to include it), but I didn't think I'd missed signing anyone's book. Well, you know I'll sign it - you can get it back to me, or book me another reading for Rewind and I'll come to Portland and we can have a big get-together.

I vote for another Portland get-together with Jane this time.

I got REWIND today and I read it in 3 hours and 20 minutes. I loved it! My favorite novel so far. Everyone who is on this site should read it!

REWIND!!! by Bruce Kimmel

Well for all us who have been waiting for an insider's inside view of the recording industry by someone who knows - our dish has arrived. And a fine, full dinner it is, with a drink AND a bag of chips AND dessert.

Jonathan Goldman (who must be Benjamin Kritzer's cousin) goes through some familiar workplace mishagoss and emerges and triumphs through the work of those left behind when he....well, you will have to read the book to find out. The greatest power of the young 21st century is The Internet - and nobody can use it better than Goldman and Kimmel.

The melieu is captured as only someone "in the know" can describe it. The personalities, the voices, the actions and consequences, are all delicious and devious.

A fine companion to WRITERS BLOCK - and a catharsis for those of us who wondered just what went down during the gunfight at the OK Corral.

Bravo to author Bruce Kimmel. Another page turning knockout. You will be tempted to REWIND - but are compelled to race ahead to the Rod Serling-like ending. Rod Serling, yes....but with an O. Henry flavor as well. Kimmel's voice comes through loud and clear in StereoPhonic Sound!

The book is a work of fiction. Every word of it. So says author Kimmel.

TOD - DVD - DH Richard and I just watched Lackawanna Blues, which I knew nothing about until the Emmy par-tay here a while ago. Strong cast, sweet story.

Finally got my copy of REWIND in the mail today, plus the one I ordered for a friend as a surprise, so I hope that friend isn't reading this. Thanks, BK, for inscribing the birthday wishes to my friend. Skip gets to read our copy first, as I slog through the last days of busy season at the office (which ends on Monday, and things stay calm until next February, I think.)

...in other news...my Bollywood movie for this weekend will be BHOOKAILAS (1957). 30 minutes into the film and it is proving to be quite entertaining...another mythological story, this one with demons who plan on attacking heaven!

REWIND is the fifth novel by Bruce Kimmel and perhaps the most personal and cathartic of his novels. REWIND was engrossing from the first page and is truly a page-turner from the get-go.

REWIND is a rewarding read. It is suspenseful and at times a funny portrait of an honorable man who is dragged through the mud by people who look at the music industry as a plaything. REWIND gives the reader a look inside the business of the independent music label.

The story focuses on sixty-year-old singer/songwriter and one-hit wonder, Jonathan Goldman, who after many years in the music business is ousted from the record label he created. Then his former partners and malcontent co-workers, through lies and deceit, make his life a waking hell. Goldman tries to retain his dignity through the litigious nightmare, planted news items and false rumors. Despite the support of small group of friends, his life spirals downwards into a well of despair that he may not be able to climb out of.

Then those who are involved start to die one by one.

REWIND is Bruce Kimmel’s most accomplished writing yet, and he as grown and evolved as author. The chapters are told in the first person of the various characters involved in the story and they speak in their own voice and style; a refreshing approach of writing that I don't believe I have seen before.

I highly recommend this book to mystery aficionados, music and show business lovers, and anyone who enjoys reading.

As you can see I really enjoyed the book. I hope that you will put some money aside and buy Rewind. I think it is his best yet. Honestly! And I do not say this as the guy behind BK's tribute site, but as reader who really enjoyed the book.
