My fifth word guess was something completely different to see if other letters are in the word, because I couldn't think of words that had the second and third letters until I made that completely random guess.

Keith often does a different word in an attempt to get more letters.

Yes, I do it when necessary.

DR George I hope you are feeling better today.

Thanks, Jane, I am.  I woke up with the headache less achey than yesterday, and it's definitely getting better as the day goes on.

Wonderful news!  Sending more vibes.

I'm sorry your faucets are still leaking, DR Jane. Do you have any recourse with the folks who did all the work?

Maybe they don't count reading on the phone and on the internet as reading for leisure?

From George:

Quote
I'm glad it's not going to rain around here.  I have sanded but unfinished shelves in my back yard, ready for me to stain them to (sort of) match the shelves on my bookshelves.

You had better do it fast, or wait until after the heatwave headed our way.

I brought the boards inside so that they're not out there sitting in the sun.

Good idea.

Ushered for a funeral this morning. The governor spoke. I made sure I was far from him.

Good for you!

Whoa! Hullo?

New York’s Orchestra of St. Luke’s brings Rodgers and Hammerstein’s first Broadway classic—Oklahoma!—to the Carnegie Hall concert stage. Conducted by Emmy- and Grammy–winning music director Rob Berman, this concert features the original orchestrations by iconic Broadway and Hollywood arranger Robert Russell Bennett, whose contributions to Oklahoma! were indispensable.

Very cool!

RIP Jamshied Sharifi, gone much too soon. He joined the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble when I left after my grad school degree. He and his fellow new band members took the group to some of its greatest heights. I was so happy when he took over directorship of the FJE when Herb Pomeroy retired. Of course, Boston couldn't hold his musical talents for long. His gifts of music will keep giving joy to all who listen.

Oh, no. :(

I'm torn on a very popular nasty nickname for the current Governor of Texas.

But on the other hand, he's so abhorrent in every way that I can't see or hear of him and think of anything else.

Goodreads sent me a lits of anticipated read for the fall.  This comment under a dystopian book completely surprised me.
"Future dystopia books can be hard on the stomach these days because, you know, reality."
