Well, you've read the notes, the notes captured the zeitgeist of the high speed chase and the baked potato, and now it is time for you to post until the high on speed cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  I received three, count 'em, THREE CDs in the mail yesterday!  One was the 1956 original London cast recording to Grab Me a Gondola (in preparation for the new recording due to be released next month that I've also ordered!), the 1995 original London cast recording of The Shakespeare Revue (featuring a young Janie Lee), and Seth MacFarlane's brand new Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements:

What's really cool (because I had no idea when i ordered either cast recording) is that one of the songs in the Shakespeare revue is actually from Grab Me a Gondola, and is sung by the young Janie Lee Dee, "Cravin' for the Avon." :D

After coming back from the ocean, I wanted to fill my gas tank.  One place, a new convenient store owned by a local native tribe had regular unleaded at $3.85⁹/gallon.  Nice price for around here.  I drove to Costco, and they were at $3.99⁹!  Big difference, but I did, however, go ahead and get gas there.

As I drove home after filling up, I saw that Safeway gas was $4.09⁹, Fred Meyer was at $4.05⁹ (with a guaranteed 3¢/gallon off with their rewards card, so $4.02⁹).  And just kittycorner from Fred Meyer was Chevron at $4.49⁹/gallon!  Why would anyone go there when it's SO much more expensive?? :o

Two days ago, I managed to get my right side of my shoulder and back out of whack, and I am in a great deal of pain. I spent the evening reading and lying on a heating pad, but it did little, and I'll spend much of today lying on that damned heating pad in hopes it loosens things up.

There may be a book waiting got me in the mail room. Because our lousy post office is managed by morons, our mail deliveries can run any time between 11:00a.m. and 7:00p.m. It's ridiculous.

DR George are you sure that isn't Janie Dee and not Janie Lee? When I was sure in 2021 the recording funding for Jubilee was coming through, I had cast Janie Dee as the Queen.

TOD

Last night I watched Truffaut's Day for Night for the first time, well, I actually think since the 1970s. I appreciated it more than I ever remembered from back then. I'd actually started a li'l Truffaut retrospective several months ago when I went through the Antoine Doinel films, but I fell off the wagon. I shall do better, starting now. I watched a few of the supplements on the Criterion Blu-ray, but it was getting really late. So I'll finish those up later today, then decide what the next film will be. If I take it out and put it on the to-watch stack, it won't get forgotten.

I have a few CDs in the to-listen-to stack, but what are they? I forget, but one is the Charlie Brown release that BK was just posting about finding.

That west coast gasoline pricing is outta sight, man. Of course we think ours is, too, based on the past. But yikes! How do y'all live with that?

Yesterday I saw that our local BJ's price had suddenly jumped a nickel from the previous day. Usually it goes up and down in one- or two-cent increments. But: a nickel. That means something's afoot and more could be coming. It also puts us in near-$3.00 territory again, at $2.94 (or fifteen cents less if you're vixmom).

Between the Munch Box research, some Coffee Dan's research before that, and a couple of other things I've looked up based on posts in a couple of the L.A. groups, I've been down a sinkhole-size rabbit hole this week. It's addictive.

How about the cost if a regular letter by post office jumping up 5 cents last month - to 78 cents?

Didn't that (maybe long ago) used to be by a penny or two at a time?
