Eugene's showcase never happened. We couldn't settle on a play. He was waiting tables and actinf in a lot of things, but I told him I was sick of seeing crap where he was the only good actor. The rock-bottom was a commedia dell'arte group on Wall Street run by a fool of a director, but Peggy and her parents were there the same night I was, and we all ended up riding the subway back uptown. My ultimatum about crap plays to him occurred the following week, and we never spoke again.

One day, some time later, Peggy called me and told me that Eugene and she had split up and he had moved to Los Angeles. She also asked me to come to East 80th Street for lunch. So, I went; I was curious.

We talked about her and my split up with Eugene and what was going on in our lives. She was working as a librarian at the New York Society Library in 1979, but it was now 1981 and she was with the New York Public Library children's dept. I no longer remember the branch. I had moved to my second apartment in July 1980, so we talked about all that stress and the unpleasantness when I stayed with her and Eugene. Then she dropped the Big News: she had met at the library - shades of She Loves Me! - a writer named Peter Salwen, and they were getting married. I later met himn and gave her my approval, and for the next 40+ years they were the friends on WEst 86th Street that I never saw often enough. I will miss her.

I'm bored by female body horror movies, which is exactly what this is. Director is interesting visually - beautiful production design - actors are good. But several gross-out scenes that are NOTHING like The Omen, which has three great "shock" scenes that are justified and not overtly nutty like they do today.

I dont tend to enjoy sequels and I can’t think of a franchise where I saw every one, except  Toy Story, I guess, but after the empty calories of #4, I will not see a #5.

Got a nice letter today from TransUnion telling me I was unfortunately part of their latest data breach and someone got access only to my birthday and SS#.

What a joke.
