As Covid is reported to be coming back in NYC, PLEASE watch out for the elders in your life.

Remembering Dad, Naftali Landau, whom everyone called Nat, for his heavenly birthday, born Sept. 7 1920.  He passed away of Covid at 100-1/2 Feb. 2021, and given longevity in the family, Covid clearly cut his life shorter than it should have been.  It's a "mystery" that even with 24/7 care, he caught Covid and hadn't been vaccinated even as late as Jan. 2021, when at 100, he logically should have been among the earliest eligible for the vaccine.  (His caregiver was a Miami company, which may relate to Florida's lax Covid precautions, I think.)

Here we are on what was a very happy day indeed, the bris in 1988 of my nephew David Landau, who's celebrating his birthday today, Sept. 5 (Happy birthday weekend, David Landau!) -

Nice photo.  It had to be doubly upsetting knowing a vaccination might have prevented your father from dying of covid.

Even more so that my greedy brother and his greedy wife had gotten me removed from the health contact list for both Mom and Dad - Because of that, I wasn't even told my Dad was in Aventura Hospital until the Rabbi's wife had tried to visit Dad and she just double-checked to make sure I knew Dad was in the hospital.

My brother and sister-in-law wanted full control over everything, financial and medical.

I was locked out of the decision making for my father.  My sister did not call me so I could be there when he passed.  Someone else called, and then my brother called but I arrived about 15 minutes late.

:( Jane, I'm so sorry.  Was she just a controlling person, or were there estate issues involved?  Or maybe she was just hateful?

Tech issue worked out and we have what we need and now we'll find out what's what - hoping to hear later today or tomorrow.

Guy in the back house is moving to a condo.

Is he buying a condo, or moving into a condo someone else owns?

And I found out what dear Grant was charging him for his tiny little abode and it was OUTRAGEOUS. I don't think he'll be renting it out at that price anytime soon. Robert Yacko just got a studio that's 200 MORE square feet for 1100 bucks LESS in Sherman Oaks. My fear is that if he can't rent it out he'll try to raise my rent and IF he does that I'm afraid I will be out of here, too. Don't know where but I get ten Zillow options a day that are slightly cheaper than what I'm paying for slightly larger places - this is two bedrooms - everything I look at on Zillow is three and either the same price or less. I don't really want to move at this point. And I have been looking in Palm Springs, too, but that would be wholly dependent on a whole bunch of things.

Hope all works out for you.

And if you have to consider moving, don't forget to take a really close look at how much it would cost you to move and extra costs like parking.

I am sick and did not have the colonoscopy this morning. Jen came down and gave me a Covid test. It was negative. I'm going back to bed.

Feel better soon.

BK - The New York Times reported this last week as something specific to New York City.

"N.Y.C. Covid Cases Appear to Be Rising. So Are Inquiries on Vaccines.
Patients are flooding medical practices with reports of the telltale signs of Covid and questions about whether they will be able to get vaccinated."

You never know quite what you're going to get from Uncle Andre's but it's usually two filets of fried catfish. Today, it was three and they were huge.

My blood pressure pill Lisinopril is also like that, really tiny.  It's hard to imagine a pill that's so tiny doing ANYTHING, but it seems to do the trick.

In the photo there: Dad (Naftali Landau), our Aunt (Sarah Friedler), my brother (Hilary Landau) and me (Fred Landau)

She had mayjor issues.  I just understand the hurt you had to deal with.  She died of the family curse  two months after my father passed away.  My brother and I get along great.

After my sister's initial round of her chemo cocktail it seemed it worked.  I was doing the study at the NIH at the time.  When the cancer return within, I forget how long, they told me she would be gone in x number of months and they were right.

Before it came back I tried to get her to sign up for a trial and she wouldn't do it.  Once it came back she called me to get her into a trial, which at that point she didn't qualify for any :(
