Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke obliquely of the chest CAT scan, and now it is time for you to post until the CAT cows come home.

Vibes for BK that everything goes well with getting to and taking the CAT scan.

TOD:  I think the earliest that had this effect was "We Go Together" on the TV commercial for "Grease."

Then, when the title song for "Over Here" was done by The Andrews Sisters on the Tonys, that had a similar effect.

As far as songs hitting me that way suddenly on the radio, there were "Don't Cry Out Loud" which had me seeking out any songs I could find recorded by Melissa Manchester, and Rupert Holmes' "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)."

I had a nght of weird dreams, although the only one I remember now was something to do with a concert of Sondheim's Follies in London.

On Sunday, a Facebook friend asked me to sign 16 copies of Annabelle & Thatch for her granchildren. If her list of names arrives today, I'll be signing a lot of books. If it doesn't, I'll spend the day dealing with the list of items for this senior citizens aid doohinky.

I love the character of Franz Schreker in Cabaret.
One of my favorites.

TOD: I would guess it would be when I saw Tex Van Cliburn on the Ed Sullivan Show playing the Tchaikovsky First Piano Concerto in B Flat Minor.

I think I was in the second grade and we had read about him in the Weekly Reader winning a piano contest AGAINST the Russkies. There was a photo of him meeting President Eisenhower.

I loved the music and my parents bought me the Extended 45 RPM version with him on the cover.  Still have it and play it from time to time.

And got lots of Tchaik from the library in the years to come.....and bought more when I got a job.....

Good luck to BK for a breezy trip across the hill and back, and a good CAT.

You'll be right in my old nabe. I'd suggest stopping in Dolores afterward for a delicious cheeseburger and some Suzy-Qs.

Speaking of "Suzy-Q" - it's part of the lyric to "Over Here" ("Truckin' and a Suzie Q’in’ all-a the time")

Last night DR MichaelG said:
Quote
TOD: I can't abide even the smell of peanut butter. Overall, peanuts are one of my least favorite foods, though they can be OK in a supporting role. No allergy, just preference. So I'm no help at all regarding the merits of different brands!

That's amazing! You're not the first, but I think I've only known one or two other people who never liked peanuts or peanut butter at all.

But in your next post, you bring back a memory of tuna sandwiches I'd rather forgotten. We had them in our school lunches, too, and I'm thinking that probably wasn't my favorite thing at the time, but I like the vague visual/taste/memory sensation I'm getting right now. I'm thinking those could have gotten messy in a lunch sack, too, but they probably weren't made too thick. These days I tend to pile it on, to the point that when I'm done with a tuna sandwich, half of its contents are still on my plate. I also tend to make a fancier, or busier, tuna salad than my mom ever would have, so it's automatically a little sloppier. Must work on this.

Definitely recalling overflowing tuna fish sandwiches needing a plastic fork at least.

As for the difference between StarKist and others, I've never in my life tried to figure that out. And I should. What would you, or anyone, say the differences are between the major brands?

The only "distinction" I've made in recent years is getting pouches instead of cans. That started when I was trying some real low-carbing just for the heck of it (it worked), and I learned from others that it's easy and convenient to take pouches with you to work or wherever and eat it right out of the pouch, or dump it out and throw some S&P on it, or whatever. And it's dry in comparison, which we found appealing.

By the bye...

Late yesterday afternoon I made a PB&J. In so doing, I polished off both the peanut butter and the jam. Both. Completely. It was a perfect tie.

I loved tuna as a kid, just eating it right out of the can with a fork. Not so much sandwiches. Star-Kist was definitely the fave. Now I would not be so brand loyal, but still can tell the differences. I think Star-Kist had bigger chunks, Bumblebee was more finely chopped. Otherwise just whatever salt-to-fish ratio, I suppose. Although now there is soy of some sort added to lots of ‘em.

As for those pouches, I have a hard time getting the tuna out of the bottom corners.

This looks interesting, seems to be a movie musical tied together by Neil Diamond songs, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson.

I really like the line "You don't want to be a Neil Diamond impersonator, you want to be a Neil Diamond interpreter"

The bottom corners! Yes! It's impossible to get it all - with fork, spoon, or knife. It's a problem with all things that come in those pouches. I'll be standing there looking closely at the food in the corner, and at what I'm doing with whatever utensil I'm wielding, and it makes no sense that I keep MISSING.

For a while we were getting a few pouches of cat food along with the cans. In addition to the impossibility of getting it all out, they were messy and smelly as all HELL because of the amount of liquid that went all over the place. No more.
