A question for anyone who knows:
The movie "Granny, Get Your Gun" opened in 1940 and the musical in 1946. Did "Annie Get Your Gun" take its title from the 1940 movie?
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032550/

I always thought it was a play on the song title "Johnny, Get Your Gun."

Wasn’t there a Jerome Kern or Cole Porter musical that had originally been called Jenny, Get Your Gun?

That was the working title of Something for the Boys from 1942.

There was also a movie that went by "Johnny Get Your Gun" in 1919.

That leads to the 1917 song "Over There"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Over_There

The verse starts:
Johnny, get your gun, get your gun, get your gun.
Take it on the run, on the run, on the run.
Hear them calling you and me,
Every Son of Liberty.
Hurry right away, no delay, go today.
Make your daddy glad to have had such a lad.
Tell your sweetheart not to pine,
To be proud her boy's in line.

The reason this came up is - as posted by Stephen Cole's thread on Facebook - that today (September 21) is the anniversary of the ANNIE, GET YOUR GUN production in the 1960s the was jokingly called GRANNY, GET YOUR GUN.

Many people don't know that the Jack in the Box restaurant franchise was almost called Thatch in the Box.
