I wish I felt CLEAN right now. I don't. This morning we had to do the thing that makes a pet owner feel the least clean of all:  We had to say goodbye to our beloved feline companion Mikey, at 17 years of age.

Over the past few weeks, the years of slow-moving kidney disease and thyroid issues and other things took their final toll, and he was letting us know he wasn't a happy camper anymore. We knew it was time. We were the only ones at the vet's office this morning, and they were wonderful. We'll pick up his paw print tomorrow. (We'd only ever had that done for the last cat, Poe, in 2020 - nobody had ever offered before - and now Mikey's will hang next to Poe's on the wall.)

I just read your email, and my heart is broken for Mikey. You went today through the nightmare that haunts me every day. What can I do for Annabelle, Thatch, and Stella if they outlive me? And how will I survive if I outlive them?
