My wife first got glasses when she about 6 or 7, and was amazed to discover there were cracks in the sidewalk.

How many times had she unwittingly given her mother a broken back!

My mother and sister both wore glasses and I had a weak eye muscle so my parents were very good about taking me to the eye doctor.  I also remember in school they would have us read the eye chart to check our eyes and report to our parents if we couldn't read it.  Maybe that started later.  I can't recall what grade we began learning to read, maybe 1st.

She had no idea what people were talking about when they said that!

I got my first pair of glasses when I was in 2nd grade.  My mother purchase a little purse for me to carry them in along with a kleenix and chapstick.

I liked having my cute little purse.  I showed all my friend my purse and glasses, and that is where the glasses stayed.  When my mother went to the teacher/parent conference she came home and said "Your teacher didn't know you wore glasses".  I was busted and the teacher made sure I wore them during class.

Now I feel bad for her.

Thursday afternoon greetings!  Just returned from an uneventful quarterly checkup with our primary care physician.

TOD - I started wearing glasses for nearsightedness in 3rd grade and transitioned into bifocals when the farsightedness of middle age showed up.  Since my cataract surgeries in December 2016 and January 2017, I now only use drugstore readers.  I have bifocal lenses, both clear and sunglasses, with a mild distance prescription and the reading magnification of my OTCs.  Those are mostly for driving and other occasions when I need a little distance correction.  My distance vision isn’t as good as it was right after the surgeries and I’m going to talk to my eye doctor about it at my next appointment early next year.

I’m now 1:40 in Rust. 40 minutes to go, and I have just about lost interest.

Then the phone call with Apple. We took screenshots, went through this and that but nothing makes the CD drive work. We did fix something that got set up wrong with the back-up drive, so that's good. Meanwhile, we're now going to try the one thing we haven't. I went to Amazon and bought a powered hub - because we've read that these ports don't get enough power for the USB-C - it's arriving between five and ten and I'll know instantly if that's been the culprit all along. It would make sense that my 2015 iMac also wouldn't ultimately recognize it, although it did when I first got it - I wouldn't be surprised if they lessened the ports on one of the OS updates on that - but the joke is, it still works just fine on the 2010 laptop. None of it makes a lick of sense to me. But I'm hoping the powered hub works. I don't really need its extra ports, but it's worth it if we can get the CD drive to work. If not, I can return the hub.

"Uneventful" sounds great for a checkup!

My goddaughter Charlotte just left with a copy of Annabelle & Thatch. We had a lovely visit and a lot of gossip about mutual friends. I hadn't seen her is quite some time so it was just what I needed.

My DH Richard tells a similar story about the leaves on the trees.

I survived Rust. It was actually a not-bad coming-of-age story hidden in a too-violent western.

Ghostlight is a movie about the healing power of the theater. And the beginning is wonderful.

The first 1:15 of Ghostlight is really, really good. Highly recommended. That is, if you love theater. And I think that applies to one or two of you.
