Today's our anniversary, so we celebrate it in our traditional style, with an opera staging rehearsal. After that we come home, change, and head out to dinner.

If anyone is following the horrific news from Grand Blanc, Michigan, my sister lives there and can see the smoke from her house  :'(

Just saw on Facebook that former dear reader Michael Druxman aka Druxy has passed away. He was controversial here because all he ever posted about were his plays and everything he seemed to be publishing on a daily basis. He wasn't asked to leave, but I believe he got the drift that many people were irritated by what he was doing. Still, my experiences with him were okay in terms of directing and/or acting in one of his projects.

When he first signed on to HHW. I bought one of his books from Amazon, and I thought he was a lousy writer. When I supported a controversial production of The Diary of Anne Frank that pointed out the similarities between the Gestapo and Jews and ICE and Latinos during Trump's first term, he posted that I was pissing on Jewish graves. I thought he was a horrible man.

DR George, Rupert is much older than my little Annabelle; his career ended long before she was born in late 2016. She does want to read his book.

Some cheerful dancing, and singing about dancing, for John G's birthday

I love this!  And it's especially funny when just as the chorus line enters down the stairs, a couple of audience members are leaving and get in the way! :))

Yesterday was the fundraiser for which I made the caramel corn.  It was selling well and there were only a few bags available when I left about an hour before the closing.  I helped with ticket selling early, then Richard came in for lunch.  We bought homemade vanilla and homemade peach jam and visited with a lot of our neighbors.  I came home and took a nap.

Ginny, it sounds like a good time was had by all!

My mom's cat Henry can get in the way when we're playing Phase 10, but his presence never stops the game. ;)

For the last major elections we have been driving to an official ballot box to drop of our ballots.

There's a ballot drop box just two blocks from where I live.  It's in front of the Tumwater library and just across the street from the Tumwater city hall,  so it's quite safe.

George good luck finding all the supplies you need for the handyman next week.

Thanks.  I did get most of it ordered, but we're going to see if we can rent an adjustable ladder.

Did he post that to you here on HHW?

Maybe that's the type of thing that might have made him controversial.

If he were filling up posts and pages with posts about his books and plays, adding to the page totals, that might have been helpful.  I usually read the posts about his books and plays when the subject matter interested me, skimmed them when I wasn't interested in the subject matter.

But they added posts to the page totals. :)

I read a story about a DC firefighter who was mugged and shot as he was close to home.  It was late, 911 was not only understaffed but busy.  After holding 3 minutes he called his fire station and they rushed over to help him.

Oh, my goodness! :(

I just looked and saw in the HHW stats that Druxy's last post here was May 30, 2022.  That may have been during a time when I'd not been on the internet that much, with so much going on in the family and financial legal meshugaas - so I may have missed what led to the controversy.

I did something very radical. I ordered a chili cheese and onion hot dog and onion rings from the legendary hot dog jernt Pink's. If you actually go there, you'd be standing in line for an hour. For some reason, DoorDash now delivers from there. It's quite far away, but the hot dog was still hot when it arrived, which was amazing. Now, I have lived here all my life, and I'm not sure I've ever had a Pink's hot dog before. Maybe once at some point in my teens, but no real memory. The dog was great and so were the onion rings and just the right amount - five.

I noticed in the HHW statistics that the day I closed my "FJL" account" and reopened as "Freddie," starting my posting count from zero, was March 25, 2020.

Just a couple of weeks after all the Covid quarantining and restrictions started.
