Nathan and Kristi are out of town and he had told me to eat whatever I wanted from a few things he'd left in the fridge and on the kitchen counter.

What he left on the kitchen counter was some chips, veggie sticks, and partial boxes of Drake's Fruit Pies - one apple, one cherry. He loves a lot of junk food. And who doesn't? But I didn't pay those any mind until last night when I needed a snack and had an apple one. This morning I had a cherry one.

DAMN IT TO HELL, THEY'RE DELICIOUS. I'M HOOKED.

My minister has a thing for those hand pies.

It's an anniversary day!

October 1st, 1987

The Whittier Narrows earthquake, which happened while I was in the shower getting ready for work. It made itself known by "flexing" the one-piece stall shower unit, whatever you call those things, while I was getting ready for work. And then I went to work in the very buildings (at Wilshire and Oxford) featured in the movie Earthquake where one of our file cabinets had partially tipped over. Ah, those were the days.

That must have been very strange to be in the shower during the quake.

I fortunately missed that quake by a couple of days.

Another phone call to HRA and another nice lady assured me that all was well. I did learn that the documents I had mailed in were finally downloaded on Sept. 26, eleven days after that were due, and around 26 days after Jen mailed them for me. Supposedly, my account is okay. I will know tomorrow.

Vibes that the account is okay!

Thanks! I will have to see tomorrow if my HRA page has been updated.

Or to be in the quake during a shower.

Friends and I saw "Damn Yankees" at Arena Stage (DC) this afternoon.  They had a matinee at noon, which is a great time as far as I'm concerned.  We all enjoyed it very much. It's been updated somewhat--the home team is the Baltimore Orioles, instead of the Washington Senators.   Applegate was played by Broadway fave Rob McClure, who was terrific as was the rest of the cast.

When I did the Zoom interview a couple of weeks back, I was tempted to look into the techniques used by Lucy in MAME; they were so nice and subtle.
