Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no Slinky, and now it is time for you to post until the Slinkified cows come home.

BK, I agree with you. The news media could have shut down Trump years ago. In the last election, there was continual press on Biden's age and mental state. Next to nothing was made of the other deranged candidate;s age and mental state.

Agreeing with BK and DR Elmore re the media and ... you know. The NY Times helped him get elected in the first place, in 2016, with that last minute headline about "her emails".

I am up extra early because I'm accompanying a singer in one song at a church service Sunday morning, and I've been indulgent in sleeping in lately so I need to at least get used to getting up today and tomorrow so Sunday won't be so rough.

The TOD, kinda, sorta:

I've been following a thread on Home Theater Forum about some people's earlier Twilight Time Blu-rays not playing. Some are going through their copies and testing them out, and I'd been through a few of mine lately, but yesterday I decided to follow the list of the 2011-2013 ones someone posted and began watching and/or fast-forwarding through them to make sure they don't hang up anywhere. Fortunately, all is well. It's so weird how that happens, though, with one or two people finding virtually ALL of a certain kind of disc not playing anymore. You gotta wonder what's going on with them or their home environment or their players. But given that some of these discs are irreplaceable, I do feel good about knowing mine are still good. So in the past few evenings I've enjoyed reconnecting with all or parts of:

The Egyptian
Mysterious Island
The Roots of Heaven
Picnic
Pal Joey
Bite the Bullet

More to come in the following days. It's a fun trip. 2011 was an exciting time for some of us, thanks to the wonderful and much missed Nick Redman to whom we give thanks for a nice chunk of our personal libraries.

Re:  Slinky

Were they a new thing when I discovered them in the mid-1950s? (Because I always think something was new when *I* discovered it.)

Yes, I had one because they were all the rage then and we had to have them. I don't know if I ever got very good at it (what did one do, anyway, except "slink" it back and forth?), but it was definitely a THING.

My mind also turns immediately to Play-Doh, Silly Putty, and the Hula Hoop as equally new (?) and popular must-haves. Again, because of the house and neighborhood I associate with these, I'm thinking mid-to-late 1950s.

Our Slinky was sent down the stairs many times - at least the first weekend we got it.

In about 20 minutes I shall be on my way to the getting place.

I am also going to lunch with my friend Vickie who must have something to discuss.

Time will tell.

What was it I got at Walmart the other day, besides a prescription refill?

Oh yes. I was out of coffee K-cups so I tried one of whatever house brand it is they carry. Theirs are still at 12 per pack, where most of the name brands have DOWNSIZED* to 10 per pack, AND the price was lower than even the sale prices at Shop Rite and all. The verdict? They're excellent! At least the dark roast one I tried. I'll be going back to try others.

*DOWNSIZING = the way to outright lie about prices GOING UP. Companies that do this to "soften the blow" for consumers (read: mislead) can go to HELL.

We had slinkies. Inevitably they’d get kinda tangled up and ruined. Then the plastic ones came around, that’s all my kids know, and small ones are given out as cheap party favors.

I wonder if we can slink our way to page 2 before 11 a.m. (Eastern)

There are no stairs.  Would that make it easier to get to page 2?

But page 2 before 11 a.m. (Eastern) seems like an attainable goal.
