So, I just found out from the "Wacky Dust" video that I posted last night that the music was written by Oscar Levant!  Yes, that Oscar Levant! :)

The alarm rang at 5:15, and I turned it off to cuddle with Annabelle & Thatch. We all dozed for an hour and now my usual mornig schedule is screwed up.

Last night I watched episodes 3 & 4 of The House of Guinness, which were most entertaining. Arthur Guinness, the oldest of the four Guinness siblings, was gay, and episode 3 dealt in part with his sister and aunt looking for a bride. The "contract" scene between Arthur and the chosen fiancee was outrageously frank and very funny.

Billy Wilder did very nicely with the aforementioned "Sabre Dance" in One, Two, Three (1961). That might even have been my first exposure to a classical piece used in a movie. One of the earliest, certainly. (I'd seen Fantasia earlier, but that doesn't count.)

The interviews themselves are fun. Writing them and scoring them is more of a chore.

TOD:

The first that comes to mind is another Lubrick film, his use of Bartok and Bach in The Shining.

We used to do an annual Christmas Play at the Phoenix Theatre that included some audience participation.

One of the events was The Drag Race. Three actors rolled out shopping carts full of women's clothing. The three audience members had one minute to dress their own actor in the clothing and then the audience voted on the best result.  ;D

I was the AD and ran the sound. The director asked me to choose a song to play during the event....and of course I chose The Sabre Dance....  :D

Today I got my 18th 5-star Amazon review. I think I know who wrote it, but I am embarrassed by its run-on sentences and pathetic grammar. You'd think the sentences in Annabelle & Thatch were no more difficult than "Look, Dick! See Sally jump rope."

The NxNW cropduster scene takes place near the town I grew up in Indiana, but it was filmed in California.
