I think we may have our cast - we saw two gals for the leading lady - the first we all liked very much. Singing voice is a little operatic for my taste but we can make it work. She's worked with several folks I know, so I'm gonna ask a couple of folks, but she's spunky and fun, which is the key.

This is great, especially after the day you had.

I haven't quite committed to the leading lady yet. I've asked a couple of folks about her - heard from one who had her in one class years ago - hard-working, great attitude - so that was nice to hear. Just not crazy about the singing voice, but we have to decide.

Tonight's the last of our two film scene classes, this one on dazzling /spectacular scenes. We got a list of 17 movies to choose from.

So we took the opportunity to watch two we'd never seen before: Key Largo and Seven Chances.

TOD: One of my wife's nicknames for me (usually at restaurants) is "Sauce Boy," so I really can't choose one sauce or even a few. So many sauces, so little time.

But I'm glad to hear even a Texan like Dr John G isn't a fan of most cream gravy sauce on chicken-fried steak. That's been my experience but I wondered if that was just a regional thing.

OK, maybe a few chicken sauces that we make at home: a lemon / garlic / white wine sauce for chicken Scarpiello from Pierre Franey; the tomato sauce in chicken cacciatore; the paprika sauce in chicken paprikash; a Southwestern bacon / tomato / onion / chili sauce from James Beard; and a variety of mushroom sauces, usually involving porcini, from Marcella Hazan.
