Had to say no to jumping into an emergency name-your-price gig which I would have greatly enjoyed but it conflicts with my own show.
A theater arts school's director is in a panic because the student he lined up to play The Addams Family is crashing and burning. Well, that is no show for an inexperienced player. I have no idea whether they have a full band and the kid was trying to play Keyboard 1, Keyboard 2 (both very heavily programmed on MainStage), or whether they were just playing the vocal score on piano. But of all the shows that will kill a student player, Addams would be near the top of the list.
Too bad, because I love playing it. I even did it on piano once, with just bass and drums, for a small school. But that was possible because I'd just played the Keyboard 1 book a few months prior, so the notes on the page still made sense. That was fun. Then again -- all of this having been said, if what these folks need was to be Keyboard 2, I probably would NOT have time to get it into my fingers and brain. I'll have to follow up and see who took it and what was involved.
