The first time I saw Ragtime was a few years ago in a community theater production. It was a wildly ambitious reach by that group. But the leads were generally cast well, the weak link being Sarah.

So now I see it on Broadway and the weak link is still Sarah. Obviously way better than the community theater, and not a disaster by any means, but too much of a mush mouth for me.

I still could do without the Evelyn Nesbit character entirely, but the actress did well with it and was much less irritating than I'd seen before. The guy sitting next to me laughed at every "Whee" and goodness knows there are a lot of them.
