Interestingly, on the day of my birth here in Los Angeles, many interesting things were playing in NY on the B'way and even some movies that hadn't come to LA, like the French film, Panique (based on Simenon's Monsieur Hire). But on Broadway, can you even imagine being able to see some of these shows? For example: A Streetcar Named Desire with its original cast. Rodgers and Hammerstein's flop, Allegro. Thomas Mitchell in An Inspector Calls. Ethel Merman in Annie Get Your Gun. Born Yesterday. Brigadoon. Finian's Rainbow. Helen Hayes in Happy Birthday, directed by Josh Logan. Frank Fay in Harvey. High Button Shoes. Maurice Evans in Shaw's Man and Superman. Judith Anderson in Medea. Basil Rathbone in The Heiress. The Winslow Boy. Amazing, huh?

Boy, does today ever feel like a Monday. Thinking about it yesterday evening, it felt like it was to be a Monday even then. There's so much going on, AND we start another weekend of shows tonight.

But it's Friday - Black Friday, in fact - and I'll have to get myself into that mindset.

I got caught up last night in the Oxygen channel's true crime series "Homicide for the Holidays," and stayed up too ate watching Thanksgiving murders. When the alarm rang this morning at 5:45, I slept in for another hour with Annabelle & Thatch, who both seem very happy to laze about with me.

I had a very weird dream in which I was isolated in a dwelling with 4-5 other people, including our DR ChasSmith and another friend, whom I cannot remember now. Outside the dwelling, there were other similpar o˜es, and the weather was freezing wth high piles of snow. The friend whom I cannot identify has a heavy vodka drinker, and our DR ChasSmith was beig interviewed by a TV crew.

We started watching a Canadian series called FAMILY LAW, which co-stars Victor Garber as the head of a law firm where his three children (from three different wives) work. The main lead character is his older daughter, who's had screw ups in her life and career and came to her father's law firm because no other place would hire her.

It ran four seasons so far, 10 episodes a season, so it looks like a lot of "procedural" law firm show fun, if the series keeps being as involving as the first episode.

I'm surprised I'd never been aware of this show before, though it's possible when I saw the title FAMILY LAW, I was confusing it with an American series by the same name from decades ago. (That other FAMILY LAW series started in 1999 and ran three seasons.)

Blue Moon is in Amazon Prime for $19.95, so I will have to wait a bit longer before I see it.

On the opening night of Oklahoma!, the last Rodgers & Hart show By Jupiter was still running. Rodgers, Hart, and Herb Fields then revised their 1927 show A Connecticut Yankee, and that opened eight months after Oklahoma! on Nov. 17, 1943. Hart died five days later.

That's one helluva dream, DR Elmore.

As a matter of fact, we're supposed to get some sn*w on Tuesday (which would be bad for my schedule that day), but the jury's out on the timing of it. A one-day delay would be wonderful.

I wonder who the vodka drinker was!

I suspect that Pal Joey and its poor reviews still rankled with Hart after several years, but I more suspect that it was a good, fast, easy hook/explanation for the movie audience about Hart's general state of mind. There are so many lyrics, from 1925 to 1943, that clearly point to a general unhappiness with the ways of the world, the despair of the outsider beating at doors to get inside, that break my heart. Josh Logan once told Bruce Pomahac, in a discussion of the wonderful "I'll Tell the Man in the Street" which is a comedy number in I Married an Angel, that people went to Rodgers & Hart shows for the comedy numbers. Was no one working with Hart aware of all the serious trouble he was in?

I once again feel like the proverbial truck ran over me. I was perfectly good yesterday, food- and drink-wise. I of course ate a lot, but I didn't overdo it quite like in previous years, and I just had wine with dinner. And I didn't stay up too late. So, go figure. It was a true day off, though, and the break from everything was what the doctor ordered.

We have our washer & dryer delivery and hookup this morning between ten and noon. Pray that everything goes well with that. I need to do some laundry!  :)

Then, this afternoon I must get myself back in gear for playing the show!

The only thing on my calendar today is a blood donation. I wanted to wait until after the holiday, because sometimes it makes me really tired. I shall then laze about for a few days.
